• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My son and my ex-Norton

This motorcycle hadn't been started since around 1987/88 or so. I gave it to him when we moved out of our last home and moved to WA. It was a rolling basket, having been apart for around 15 years. Many parts were lost in the various shuffles around the garage thru out the years, so many parts need to be ordered, mostly from OldBritts here in WA. I really like the seat and the new front fender. The pipes are still the ones I had on it back in '88. Stock header pipes and I think I ordered the mufflers from JC Whitney!

He has painted it with new emblems on the tank. I saw it last December, since then its been painted and the seat installed. I am very proud of his accomplishment and am looking forward to taking it for a spin again when we head there on the RT this summer!

WTG GERRY!!

that is kick ass, how does she run?

Surprisingly well! The stock carbs (Amal's) were a bit tricky to get right because the idle air passages tend to clog up, which really messes up the idle. He pretty much rebuilt them and cleaned out those passages and it runs better than when I had it. It still has the stock points/condenser and.. the stock charging system. For those of you unfamiliar with this British (*$#@!%&*! Lucas!) charging system, it puts out 6 volts and then gets converted to 12 volts for all the accessories. On top of that, it has a positive ground system. This is essential to remember, and I had trouble remembering it back when I had this bike, because of over the top alcohol consumption! It has only one inline fuse on the battery(I bought 15 amp fuses by the case!). I have no idea who was behind this..bassackwards system, but I believe they should be hung by the gonads. I m sure Scotty..HDX..and a few others will recall the phrase:

Lucas..Prince of Darkness! :helpsmilie:

Anyway, it runs like a champ! He will be entering it in a ride in bike show the local HOG group puts on every year for charity. A few of the HOG folks remember me from "back in the old days" and flopping over at stoplights with this Norton. :cus: In fact, it won stock class at a motorcycle show the club I belonged to held back in 1982. I must find a pic of it. When I bought it, it had 1289 miles on it..the oil had never been changed, and the chain had never been tightened. I disassembled it, replaced a few things, polished the living hell out of it, bought new header pipes and rode it to the show. When I won that trophy, if I hadn't been half drunk, I would have been in tears!

Woops, that's enough blabin' from me! Off to find that picture from the bike show!
