• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Another ride video from NZ, first time riding with some two wheelers... the Rally acquitted it's self very well although there were a couple skid plate scrapes :helpsmilie:

 
Truly another Enjoyable vid to watch, but please, and I'm offering this as a hopefully helpful comment - IMHO, while the music you chose wasn't by itself too bad, it was far too loud and drowned out all the important riding noises!! :( For me, playing your choice of music at anything above a quiet background level over a video of ride like that runs the risk of significantly reducing if not completely destroy any enjoyment that I & others might otherwise get from the vid! nojoke

I don't think I'm alone when I say that if I'm going to watch this sort of vid, while a little quiet & carefully chosen background music might be acceptable; but if I'm gonna keep watching, I REALLY WANT to be able hear the noises of the ride, and NOT JUST your choice of music almost completely drowning everything else out! :p

To me, a big part of the enjoyment I get from this sort of vid is to be able to watch what's going on and listen to the engine; the sound of the wheels on the road; the chirping & calling of animals & birds in the paddocks & bush as you ride past; the expletive deleted comment from the bicyclist going the other way; the echoes as you ride thru the tunnels; basically listening for and appreciating all the noises that YOU heard while you were out there riding - without the overlay of your choice of music to drown them all out!! And you've gotta realise that while I personally didn't find your choice of music too offensive (albeit too loud!) there's going to be a reasonable chance that at least some others really won't like the stuff you choose at all!?! :banghead:

So I'd love to see more vids like that one from you; but please, if you must add music, turn it down!! It shouldn't drown out any of the important riding noises - and do be aware that your choice of music most likely won't be the same as everyone else's, so whatever music you choose to add WILL very likely turn some off, if not drive them away! Just Sayin' :thumbup:

But again, nice vid - I do like the engineering and workmanship that's gone into some of those roads and especially the tunnels! More please, only with less/quieter music. :thumbup:

I could hear the bike engine sounds, with no wind noise dominating. For me the music was fine.

My viewing gear has a volume control so I am able to set it where I am happy with it.
I do not expect to hear birds chirping n all during the ride.
Guess I must be privileged it seems. nojoke

I do take your point but the sound quality on both of my gopro's isn't at all high enough quality to hear the things you mentioned clear enough. Although I have placed wind socks over the mics wind noise is a problem I've yet to overcome, it gets quite drone sounding after a minute or two...you can hear it in the first clips prior to the music.

My choice of music for this video was largely down to the track lengths as I didn't want a heap of songs detracting too much from the visuals being it's 21 mins long. I will try and do better next time :2thumbs:
 
Made some modifications to by reverse lever. Relocated the front mount from the end to the middle of the shifter and shortened the lever height. All to make it easier to get to the park brake.

Has anyone ever tried to raise the front end of their Rally? It already has the inch longer shocks, maybe a spacer of some sort? Asking for a friend....

I haven't lifted the front end of a Ryker, but I HAVE lifted and otherwise played a LOT with both Spyder and other similarly designed front end steering/suspension set-ups, and I'd suggest you need to be really careful about doing that! nojoke

Due to the fixed length 'A' arms and the 'non-adjustable' pivot points they have on the frame end, you REALLY don't want to raise the front end of a Ryker as it is too much, if at all!! :lecturef_smilie: NOR should you lift that of a Spyder as it is for that matter!! :rolleyes:

I suspect that unless you are heavy enough/heavily loaded enough to negate any 'extra lift' you might get from them, even your 1" longer shocks are very likely to be adversely changing at least your camber settings, maybe also disturbing more of your steering & front end suspension geometry; and most likely adding tire wear &/or handling issues, even if you're not aware of it - yet!! But certainly, lifting the front end any higher than you have already without considering the changes that'll bring, adjusting the suspension accordingly, & catering for the way the lift changes those all-important settings and angles really isn't going to be such a good idea! :gaah:

Just wanted to leave an update on how my steering damper is going. Since fitting I have had very little (if any) issues with strong cross winds pushing the rally off line. It's now way more stable on both sealed but particularly unsealed surfaces. I guess because the steering isn't nearly as twitchy the kyb suspension is able to function way better over pot holes, ruts and corrugations, which just makes everything work better. Conclusion: Highly recommend fitting a Steering Damper to your Ryker Rally.

Here is another recent video, my first ride of 2025, over more off road.
