There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. what can be done to help control the heat generated. My right leg when placed on floor board gets real hot. Is there anything that can be done?

get an RT-S :shemademe_smilie::roflblack: the RT-S doesnt seem to have that problem!

but seriously:shocked:nojoke, BRP knew this was an issue so they addressed it with the new RT-S. maybe you can find something out from looking at the RT-S design or maybe fabricate some kind of air dam that will divert the airflow around your feet. i know a lot of riders have complained of this too! stay cool :ohyea:

check this out from the thread name above the pic....maybe this could help but you will need about 6500.00 according to one of the members here that found it.....

Idea from Spain

Check what Spyder enthusiasts in Spain are doing to keep their righ foot cooler.

Any other ideas to replace the foam blocks with something more durable will do just fine.

All the heat now goes out thru the original black plastic deflector, and they have not yet reported any difference in engine temperature after the modification.

The Victory Vision (great bike) has a similar issue with excessive heat on the right ankle area. Victory started selling some adjustable, lower wind deflectors (at $300 for two pieces of plastic) that direct the wind to minimize the heat issue. Of course, this does nothing when at a stop light on a hot day.

However, since that bike has very large floorboards, by simply changing your foot position seems to help...a bit.

The purpose to this post is that Spyder riders are not alone in this heat issue...other bikes have it as well. I'm hoping it was addressed and solved for the RT-S.

I was talking to the tech at Marina Boat Sales (Dave) and told him my right foot kept getting real hot. He went in and started looking for codes and found an exhaust gasket that needed to be replaced and he said it was throwing codes (forgot to ask what codes). He changed it out and my right foot no longer gets hot. He said the gasket on the other side is going also and I am noticing a little extra heat on that side now. I am up around 11,000 miles now so if you are near or over 10,000 miles this could be your problem.

Actually, they've gone bad with only a couple of thousand miles... including mine.

.

Will a bad gasket really throw a code? That is good to know since I thought mine was going bad. They must have checked for a code since the dealership said it was fine.

I need some clarification . . . .

. . . . do you mean your whole leg? or from your thigh to below your knee? or from your mid-shin to your toes?

If it is your shin/foot, I plugged the gap behind the air-dam under the cowl. I am using a length of that foam insulation tubing that used to put around pipes to keep them from freezing in Winter. The two inch seems to work the best, since the gap around the air dam/deflector under the right side scoop/cowl is just over an inch.

Try filling the gap around the air dam like I ( and many others ) have done. It makes a real difference.

The other solution is if you install highway pegs and get your foot out of the path of the heat.

You will probably be able to take it out this fall. I noticed it gets bad mostly when the fan comes on. With the Summer officially gone and the ambient temperatures dropping, this will become less and less an issue - - until next Summer.

That's true Tom,
When I first got my Spyder in March, I used to wear Crocs while riding, but if I did that now, I would have heat blisters on my feet! Can't wait for the cooler season.
I think there are 4 possible culprits and solutions to the right foot heat issue...
1. Fan comes on blowing hot air through that gap in the air dam (fix it as Tom suggested)
2. Leak at exhaust joint, especially if you run a Hindle. This will blow out hot air..yep, just about the right foot area (slot the thing and use permatex, check for leaks)
3. Wrap the pipe at the foot area. If you look under the bike at the foot brake area, you will see part of the exhaust pipe is right there behind the plastic and emits heat.
4. Crappy exhaust gaskets...seems like a given that one will have to replace those under 10k miles. ?
