• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

MY Prius Antenna on My 2014 RT-S

Texas

So I kept seeing all of these reports about the antenna falling off down the road. That, combined with the fact that I bought a half cover to keep the RTS covered whenever I park it in a parking lot (and it's more difficult to get the cover over the stock antenna), I decided to get a stubby. So which stubby to get? I saw reports of the Wal-Mart Stubby, but I also saw reports of people saying it doesn't have very good reception. Now the fact is, I'll probably never use the radio, because I stream audio (MP3, iHeartRadio, etc...) from my phone, but the few times I used the radio in my Prius (which came with a stubby), it worked great. However, I changed out the antenna on my Prius for a 3" Carbon Fiber antenna, which has less than perfect reception....but ti looks good and I don't use the radio anyway. I kept the antenna from the Prius; why, I don't know, but I must have somehow known that I was going to put it on the RT-S.

For those of you worried that the stock antenna is going to fall off; All I can say is that if you purchase your RT-x from the dealer I got mine from (Yamaha-Funcenter in Boerne, TX), that will never happen. In fact, mine was installed with Locktite, and was so secure, the antenna threads broke off in the base. Not a big deal for me; I just threaded a new hole in the base. Below are pictures of the finished project. I like the look of it much better than the long whip, it is much easier to deal with when getting the cover on the RT-S, and reception appears to be just as strong as what I was getting before (the few times I actually used it).

Is that antenna rigid? It looks better than the one I had on my 2010 which was flexible. Sometimes when I would go to close the trunk it would bend and get stuck. PIA

Ann, yes, it is pretty rigid. Being Toyota OEM, they wouldn't use anything like the one at WalMart. Also, I'm guessing because of the way they wound the coil up the antenna, this helps it to get better reception. I'm sure there are other suppliers, but this is one example of where to get one for $35.64 if you are interested:

Looks WAY better than the stock one. It gets rid of that remote control car look.
