There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. my new venom exhaust

Dam I love my new venom exhaust jeeez it sounds so much nicer than the stock pipe and it's probably 40lbs lighterit's almost as loud as my buddys Rienharts on his Roadking it sounds so sweet going through the lower gears. :) they took a bit too long to deliver it (over two weeks) but was well worth the $425 I spent on em.

I know after market exhausts have been done to death, but I have just ordered the Venom and was wondering about conditioning the pipe. Would it be wise to follow the Hindle break in procedure. Also will disconnecting the battery help Spydie learn the new pipe quicker. Any thoughts?

Cheers
Al

If the Venom doesn't come with its own seasoning procedure or instructions, I don't see how doing the Hindle seasoning procedure would harm your Venom pipe. I guess you could do it as a bit of insurance, just in case it does do any good. I'm not sure exactly what the Hindle pipe seasoning does for the Hindle but it was stated that if its not done, it could cause damage. Maybe it allows the innards of the pipe to heat up gently instead of having someone blow tons of hot exhaust through the thing at 8,000 RPMs within the first minute of using it. :dontknow:

I looked for muffler seasoning on google and I found a few references to it being necessary for some new exhaust pipes but couldn't find the "why" for exhaust seasoning. Maybe a more determined person could find out the answers. :D

Seasoning could also be related to the exterior finish. Every time I ceramic coat something on the exhaust, I either have to progressively bake it (in the kitchen oven) at higher and high temps... or go through an on bike "seasoning".... run for 10 minutes... let cool... run for 15 minutes... let cool... etc.

That would also possibly explain folks complaining about the exterior finish of the Hindle deteriorating... maybe not "seasoned".

Just my $0.02.

Thanks guys

Yeah, baking of coating sounds about right. I don't think that line of thinking has been mentioned before.

The Venom is 100% stainless, but I can wait 30 or so minutes just to be sure. As BJT said "can't hurt" (apart from me dancing around the Spyder looking at my watch).

Would the seasoning procedure also have anything to do with the Spyder learning how to deal with the new exhaust flow?

Would have liked the Hindle, but it's $500 (Oz) bucks dearer than what I paid for the complete Venom setup from the US.

I'll post a report and pics when it's installed.

Hoping it has that Italian sportbike sort of note.

Quite possibly... although I don't know why they'd call it "seasoning". But, hey, it's Canadian... maybe that's their term used for letting the ECU learn the new setup.

But like you said, you certainly can't hurt anything doing what you're doing.

They could have it confused with a Montreal Steak thats some good seasoning :joke: I seasoned my Hindle and finish still looking good as for stainless I would season also or you will get a couple of hot spots wich would be normal on your 90 but would look nasty on your can.

Hi SpyderDog65

My Venon is on it's way.

Did you notice any performance increase and do you have the DB Killer in or out?

I'm a bit concerned about the volume.

I'm just wondering whether the villagers (neighbours) are going to:
A. Torch my Spyder while chanting "burn, burn, burn" in a circle around it.
B. Give me that yeah another mid life crisis hoon look as I ride by.
or
C. Indifference all round.

Your thoughts?

Thanks
Al
