• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My Local Dealer Experience

Dealers Problems

I was down in Columbia a while back, a 3 hr ride for the VA hosp, and I had some time on my hands. So I located the closest Can-Am dealer and went there on Big Bird. Here is $30+, loud pipes and loud color, and I had to go find what I wanted... a qt of oil for $15 (ouch). No one said Hi, nice ride, or can I help you? Thankfully my local dealer in Greenville, SC is totally different. Yeah!!! They help me just as if I had bought the bike from them. And my friend Dan did.

While in San Antonio on errands, I went home the long way and stopped at a newer, large dealer who sells several brands and Can-Am.

I pulled up in the parking lot next to a Spyder, there were several on display outside and inside. I looked at each of them, walked around each of them several times...stood a while....20 minutes later I left. No sales person came up to me. No one paid any attention to me, while two sales people were playing grab ass twenty feet from me.

This is a huge building, new and beautiful. Lots of showroom and parking....must have had 60-70 motorcycles and ATVs on display. I am just standing there.....I finally left...Oh, I did not buy my Spyder from them even though they are 20 miles closer to me than my Spyder dealer. I had a friend who had the same experience a couple of months ago. He has more money in his checking account than most folks make in a year. He, also after 15 minutes, walked out, went over to my dealer and bought a 2010 Burgman 650 scooter, wrote a check for over $7,000 and rode it home. That is why I bought from my present dealer...I went there and they treated me like I owned the place..."forced me to ride two RTs.. a SE5 and SM5 and me an offer I couldn't refuse....:2thumbs:

p.s. I will never go back to the other dealer!

If not for the exact expirience..... I would be riding a Goldwing today.
Thank God for sorry arse salesmen :2thumbs:

I care less about the show rooms and sales people: ask previous Spyder owners about their experience with the service part of the dealer, look if they are platinum certified and have a conversation with the mechanic(s). :D

Any good salesman will check in with you to see what your interest or need is, introduce him(her)self and go from there. Most will leave you alone to 'look' and check periodically to see if you have any questions.

Unfortunately good sales people like good manners are not as prevalent as in years gone by.

It is kind of interesting at the difference in perception as to what is good and what is not good service. I believe a lot of that perception is based on our age. I do not want anyone to "bother" me when I go into a dealership, car or bike, or furniture store. My daughter and most of her friends are of that mindset and seek out a person when the time is right for them. I think that as we get older we like to bs more. Just my opinion.

I look for someone once I am ready to talk to someone, and that is the only time I want anyone to come around. It drives me crazy at Best Buy at all the times they "bother" a person in the store. The ultimate turn off is the "I am not on commission line" (which I know they aren't) but leave me alone...

Just me, but I know most our age like someone to come over and greet.
