MY Girl Friends Long Leg Comfort Dilemma.

Does anyone know if somebody makes longer drivers foot pegs or mount extensions?

My girl friend has long legs (34" inseam") and after riding for a while she gets cramps in her legs and needs to stretch them out.The most comfortable position for her is to put her feet on my pegs. Of coarse there is no room other than her to put her feet on mine. In a panic stop situation, the second it takes her to take her feet off mine may cause a problem.

I've looked at the passenger peg extensions, however I don't think they extend long enough, plus it looks like they locate the peg awful close to the exhaust pipe. I have the HMF exhaust and the pipe has no heat shield like the stock muffler.

I don't want to install highway pegs for me because I understand you have to cut holes in the lower cowl to install them. The best plan I think its to lengthen my pegs. Either with an extension mount or a longer peg.

Any Ideas?

Thanks.

I've got highway pegs with no holes in the cowling. The BRP passenger peg extensions do get you closer to the exhaust but they work well for a number of people who are using them.

Bad

Hey,
This is not very nice of you coming here with things like that and teas us all!!!:lecturef_smilie:
The only solution I can see is to send her over here and I will get her her own Spyder so she is comfortable if you can't do it.:ohyea:

The passenger foot peg ext. would be just fine with the HMF pipe.

The kewlmetal highway bracket allows for the driver foot pegs to be mounted more forward. However, an aftermarket set of foot pegs is also needed.. Kewlmetal is a supporting vendor and you can find them on the home page.

Of course arntufun is modest and has designed a set of floorboards that would probably work, if not exposed to a direct source of heat.

I have highway pegs that don't need to cut into any panels and they are great, Even for another foot position option. You can keep the stock pegs as well. I believe I got them from our sponsor.

Are you referring to the almighty "2Xfloors"? The greatest design coup since the wheel! :2thumbs:
I'd have a set of them on my RT if he'd design a set for that model... :gaah:

:D:roflblack::roflblack::D

Bob,

Yes, I am speaking of the infamous 2xfloors!! I just wish Randy would make a non-flammable set.

This is an update to my post above. With the kewlmetal highway bracket you do keep the stock pegs. The aftermarket pegs are attached to the highway bracket.

I bought the BRP passenger foot peg extensions and they work really well for my wife (she is 5'1") but when I got on the back to let her drive, I found the position very uncomfortable (I'm 6'1"). In fact so uncomfortable, I wouldn't be able to ride for more than 1/2 hour in that position. Maybe some passenger floor boards would work better.

VTC?

Though there is an expense to it, they make some floorboards for the RS that look kind of nice.

Thanks for the input everyone.

I was not looking to move the driver pegs forward to a highway riding position.

I'd like to extend the existing driver pegs straight out so both my and her foot can fit on them.

She needs to stretch her legs to my pegs just for a few minutes to relieve cramping during a long ride.

I was hoping someone knew of a longer peg or an extension mount for the pegs.

Thanks.

I'd say you can take off those factory pegs and take them to a machine shop and they could replicate the mounting brackets and extend the pegs so she could stretch out on them. Maybe even someone with a CNC machine could machine them out of aluminum. Just a thought.

Another vote for custom machining longer driver pegs.

Then again, my GF had the exact same problem (same inseam, too), and I went with the RIVCO passenger footboards: solved the problem right quick. She can ride back there all day long with those.

Note that I went with the 5" relocation arms- I think the 7" skirt being too long if the driver wants to keep *their* feet on the pegs.
