• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My first trip

Well, I've taken the spyder to work twice, but yesterday I took it on the furthest trip yet. It wasn't too far (about 1.5 hours) to my in laws and all I can say is wow, it was GREAT, very comfortable.

It's pretty crazy and I never felt like someone didnt see me, all eyes were on the spyder. Everyone either points or stares and I was actually next to one car who took pictures :roflblack:.

I'm now up to about 650 miles...:ohyea:

Isn't it nice...you no longer have to learn to play the guitar to be a rock star! :D

People must be used to seeing my spyder around because I hardly get noticed any more. It doesn't take 20 minutes to fill up at a gas station or extra time in the store. I am back to a regular ole person. No more rock star aura here.

Just now more are showing up in MD...a few months ago you wouldn't see one on the road unless it was me! :D

From what I understand, BRP is switching over to a Syn blend now, where they used to use a full Synthetic. Check with your dealer and see what he plans to use.

I'll check what it is when I get home, but I had it all sent to me from a dealer in PA. He sent me everything I need including the oil.

you think it's okay to drive to work tomorrow and have around 750 or less miles on the spyder for the 1st checkup?

I think its fine to be over 600 miles. Us "early adopters" sometimes had to go hundreds of miles past our scheduled service mileage due to lack of BRP supplied oil filters, O-rings and crush washers.

^^ cool, thanks.

As for the oil I was sent, it is:
BRP XPS 4 Stroke temps Summer Grade
Synthetic Blend Oil for all the stuff (Ski doo, sea-do, rotax, can am)

I had about 850 miles before the first service...your bike is fine...no concerns...make sure they check the tire pressure...

Believe it or not, I just checked mine and it looks like they were never checked at the 600 mile service...

This means, until Sunday, I was riding with 10 in one front tire and 13 in another...25 in the rear...I pumped them up to 20 in the front and 30 in the rear...watch my mileage go up above 30 mpg now...ek gad...

This irritates me no end. BRP has changed the oil type and the weight, but as far as I can find they have yet to change the oil specification for the Spyder. Why can't they put this in writing? It is like they are trying to set us all up to refuse to honor our warranties in case of engine damage. BRP, are you listening...we need a service bulletin on the revised oil spec!

Is this stuff not good?

I was going to get Royal Purple, but the guy I talked to said this is the stuff BRP sends them and recommends so I went that route.
