• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My first motorcycle

I bought a 1975, Honda XL-250 brand new. It was my first mode of transportation. I rode this bike for 2 summers back and forth to work. I rode this bike up to 1980 when I bought a Honda CB 650, Four, Custom. That bike I had for 6 years. I put 89,000 miles on that one. Back to the XL, My younger brother rode this bike for 6 years. When he stopped using the XL, it had roughly 70,000 miles on it. In 1988, my father brought the back to his home and stored it in the tractor shed. That is where it stayed until this June. My nephew, Seth came back home from Texas and asked if the bike was still in the shed. I said yes. He took it home and over the summer he stripped the bike down and rebuilt it. He has all the original blinkers, lights, side covers and owners manuals. He did purchase new wheels, front shocks, added LED front and rear tail lights. He replaced the exhaust, rebuilt the carb and tore down the engine. All components in the motor and gear box was still in serviceable tolerances. I could not believe it. This engine does not have an oil filter. He got the bike all back together and brought it down to show me the results. I think he did a great job. The paint on the gas tank is original. It does have a couple of dents. Any way here are a couple of pics. Bruce

That first bike is always something special. Don't matter the brand, the size, etc.

I spent many an hour and mile on that 80cc one lunger, 2 cycle, Yamaha.

Great memories. Your ahead of the game, you still have yours.:bowdown::firstplace::firstplace:

Mine was a honda 50cc......

Rode it back and forth to high school. Rain or shine. After a year or so went by I turned it into a 55cc. :2thumbs::yes: :ohyea::yes:Since those days I've had many many two wheelers and worked on them all making them more powerful and faster. After this :spyder:I'll probably be whizzing around in a power chair.:yikes::roflblack:

Kind of like this one? This is my 81 650 custom. Very nice 250 by the way. I like vintage Hondas.

Navydad, mine looked just like.yours. It was a great bike. Needed a 6th gear. I drove it all over the Maritimes, Northern New England and all over the South. I was in the Air Force, stationed in Mississippi and South Carolina. Bruce

My first ride as a passenger was on one of those. I asked a neighbor if he would give me a ride on his. I got my first ride through downtown Minneapolis, and he went very fast and scary. :yikes::yikes::yikes: It did not scare me off though. No helmets or riding gear then. He had a black leather jacket on though.
