Hi all hope you day was nice and sunny like it is to day here, after I got to know my spyder riding up and down the street and around the bock I thoat it was high time to
go a bit more out there well I covered 40km in total on Sunday today and where posible I got up to 100 kph wow that is fast for me on the spyder ok back down to 50kph then to 80kph and 50kph agane
all the time I did not have my jacket on windy it was due to speed next time I will where that jacket need some more time on roundabots as the spyder tens to len to the lift bady when turning right and so on, I have adjusted the shocks up fount to the highest settings and still I think it is to soft for me up fount the wheels have 25psi in them as the shop set it up may be needs more ????
my wight is 133kg
Having a lot of fun so far, changed my brake piddle so I could use it, to close in felt not right .
I will upload soon some pic of this mod .

:congrats:and Welcome to the new world of riding a can am :spyder2: as for your ride, I run my front tires at 30 psi rear at 25, you don't want to put any more in, it will wear out in the center first. I'm 6ft tall weight 250 lbs sorry I don't know the metric height and weight.

30 on fronts?

You run front at 30??? Being a newbie on my spyder, and looking at the manual, the max they recommend is 17 on the front. Seems pretty high?

I was surprised by that number, too. Many people here seem to run between 18-22 pounds up front. I used to run 30-32 in the back, but got premature wear in the center and now run 28 in the rear.

5' 11" 172 Lbs. I run my fronts at 14-15 psi and my back at 26-27 psi. I still have the original tires with very little wear and I am getting to the 12,000 mile mark.

Hi 8 legs

I found the stiffer sway bar fronm Evoluzione stopped the boody roll and kept the Spyder much flatter in corners. Well worth the dollars and most people can ease off the shocks then. Have a look at http://www.spyderryders.net.au - you will find several Kiwis registered on the owners page.

:welcome: and :congrats: on the new ryde. :spyder2: takes a little time to get used to, 250 - 500 miles--don't have a quick conversion to kilometers.

Earlier recommendations for tire pressure seem a little high and could cause handling issues--with the high pressure recommended in the fronts.

Suggest you using the pressures as recommended in your owners manual. I have 20,000 miles on my original front tires so far and they look good for about another 10,000 miles. I got 13,000 out of my original rear tire--running it at 28 lbs per the owners manual.

Hi Alistair, I am similar weight to you and have rear shock set on hardest ride, but front shocks on 4th setting, but I am sure my tires are not as hard as yours, and I really enjoy my ryde. It's probably something you should just persevere with for a while, as I found it different at first, but now I am used to how it handles I am really confident ryding it, I have had mine since Xmas and done over 10.000kms and other than Hindle exhaust and 1 inch risers it is pretty much how I got it from the shop. Get used to ryding it before you change too much, in my opinion anyway.

I have set the front shock to 5 I think that is the highest setting there I all so have the 1" riser block
My rear shock is standed what that is I don't know little hard to see ,what is your psi up front Colin how hard was it change it in the rear I looked at but could not yet see where to put the spanner , I think the manual said to lift the rear wheel off the groud .

Hi, Got the shock changed at first service, fronts are 16 and rear 30. My tyres are still looking mint, no uneven wear at all.

Sorry

Got rear shock setting changed at first service, and did the fronts myself. Will send you a Message tonight and organise a catch up.

I experimented with a lot of different front tire pressures to try to lessen the body roll on my 2010 RT. I started at 14 PSI, went to 16 PSI and it was better, then to 18 PSI with little or no change. Above 18 PSI the body roll got progressively worse. Wound up at 22 PSI before going back to 17 PSI which seemed the best of all. I know a lot of folks like to run more pressure in the fronts but that's what works for me. Another factor is the front end alignment which seems to be different on every Spyder. Through all the different tire pressures, my front tires have worn very evenly and with over 20,000 miles on them seem to have quite a few miles left to go. Others have reported pre-mature and uneven wear on the fronts.

I have changed my front shocks to 2011 RT shocks which helped the body roll and made it corner a bit flatter. I had the old shocks set on the highest position but the 2011's are set on position 4 and the front tires are back to 18 PSI. Wish I could afford Works Performance or Elka shocks.
