There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. My Barn Find Spyder

New member
I have had a lot going on in my life over the past couple of years and really did not ryde my Spyder much at all last year. Those who know me realize that this is very out of character for me. They also know that I always carry a can of Original Bike Spirits and microfiber cloths everywhere I go, and can be found wiping down my Spyder at the end of every ryde. Many have made jokes about it stating that I may be a bit obsessive compulsive when it comes to keeping my Spyder clean. So, while many of you new members who don't know me may think this isn't that bad, those who have met me will likely know that things got a bit out of hand. I am hoping for a much better 2013 and looking forward to putting more miles on my Spyder starting with attending SpyderFest this year.

My Spyder actually sat parked under the carport for so long that I had to check it for mice nests or any chewed wiring before I could begin doing anything else. So far it actually looks good, but I look into it more as I get deeper into working on some new changes I plan to make to it. I have had it on and off a trickle charger for a while, more off than on, and thought my battery might be shot, but a couple days on the charger and it appears to be good to go. I will find out for sure when I go to crank it again later today.

The following pictures show what my Spyder looked like when I first rolled it out of the carport. As I stated earlier, some of you will not think this is that bad while others will wonder how I ever let it get to this point.

While I don't know you personally, I remember you from prior posts, and seeing pictures of your bike when kept up. I will keep you in prayer that 2013 is a better year, and will come over and :bdh: you if you ever get your bike that bad again.

The Restoration

The good news is that all those years of continuously wiping the Spyder down with Original Bike Spirits apparently created a protective coating on most of the sections of my Spyder.

These 2 pictures show what just a single swipe of a microfiber cloth with more Original Bike Spirits did, and you can definitely see an immediate difference.

The rest of the pictures are after a good long wash job and my Spyder is rapidly returning to its former shape.

I plan on taking it for my first ryde in over 6 months today to see how it feels again. I guarantee that I will also pick up a new can of cleaner and am hoping to never let it get that bad again.

Time to get ready for the test ryde.

I was actually conflicted about posting the pictures and letting anyone see it like this, but then felt I needed to show that things like this can happen to the best of us. There is a new song out by Pink that says "We're not broken just bent and we can learn to love again" that line kind of sums this situation up.

Back to being the Beauty that it always has been! :2thumbs: And here's hoping that nothing else comes along to drive a wedge between the two of you!

Looks really good after the clean up.

Had to laugh that that's all the dirtier it got in a few months. Mine was caught in a dust storm last Monday and looked just as bad in a matter of minutes.nojoke Just finished a two day(long days)clean up.

Have a great time at Spyderfest!

Thanks everyone. I honestly wish I could have said it was road grime, or caused by dust storm, but it was simply neglect on my part.

The test ryde went very well. Tires were a little bumpy for the first 1/4 mile or so, but the Ride-On kicked in and everything smoothed right back out. That definitely tells me I made the right decision to put the ride-On in my tires as well. Had a good time just cruising in the open air again. I have a shoulder injury and it is slightly aggravated now, but nothing I can't live with.

I bought all of the stuff I needed for an oil change, have a new battery on order to use as a secondary for many of my LED lights, and of course picked up more Original Bike Spirits and microfiber cloths. It will be a busy couple of weeks getting ready for SpyderFest, but it will definitely be worth it.

Thanks for all of the comments.

Mr. Orange, I am glad you were able to get a picture before my battery died during that event. :roflblack: My plan is to have a secondary battery on board for SpyderFest.

Michael, Its great to see you and your Spyder back and hope this year will be good for you. When I first saw the post, I thought this must be and old one.:roflblack: Have a great time at Spyderfest.

Michael, It's really great to see you're back ryding. Like the others, I hope past issues are past and the future is bright. I remember the scene in Dale's pics and talking with you at MV. You with battery problem and as I recall, he was bemoaning the break up of his rear fender.

Hi Brian, yes it is me and I still have my Spyder. I hope things are going well for you on the beach as well.

tofriends, Dale and I were a pair with the issues we had at that event. Luckily we were able to get past all that and still have a great time.

Not broken just bent

I like that!! Not broken, just bent, etc.... will have to look up the song. Hope you have a better year, and you've got a beautiful bike, sure cleaned up nice!!!:clap:
