• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

MY BABY'S SCREAMING

I read about the high RPM that the 998 engine and transmission needs.
I put the computer in trailer mode and I'm shifting around 6,000 RPM
It just sounds loud and it goes against everything I think I know about this.

Shifting at about 5,000 rpm is high enough...
It'll protect the clutch plates; that's your primary concern when running at rpm levels that aren't high enough...
(Keep things spinning at over 3,500 rpm)

No doubt; it takes some time to get used to the song that these bikes like to sing! :D

Hey aah, I have just started shifting higher rpm as recommended by everyone and first thing I noticed was my gas mileage went above 30 and up to 33. How cool. I was getting 24-28 before that. Only prob I had was holding spyd down in below 30 speed limits. Worked great though and I so appreciare all here at spyd lovers and the great help and group that are here. Thanks all!

Run It

The Rotax twin isn't for grandpa cruisers.......don't abuse it, but, don't pamper it either. Unless you're constantly taking it above 8K. You have nothing to worry about. I cruise mine, with trailer, @ 6700 in 5th - often. Just keep your oil fresh.

That isn't a scream you hear.... that is music.....

It just like a symphony when the crank is turning and those connecting rods are moving those pistons up and down as those little explosions take place in the combustion chamber and serenade you at 6 to 7,000 rpm.

Wait until it loosens up a bit and you begin to hear some additional valve noise accompanied by a little deeper exhaust note.... that's when all the instruments are tuned to their fullest.

Just enjoy the music.

Adjusting..!!

not easy for many..but once you get used to it it becomes normal. I believe we had one fellow who sold his roadster because he could not adjust. The new ACE tripple is much better at lower rpms. You will get used to it and it will become a purr nit a scream..!!:ohyea:
