• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My almost new RTS-SM5

For the past 6 weeks I have been a "foster parent" to a 2008 Spyder RS. I took it to the doctor and gave it plenty of exercise. I could have adopted it at a pretty good price but I realized early on that I really wanted an RT. So the search began for a used RT. I bought one that was listed here on SpyderLovers by a young man whose wife got pregnant shortly after he purchased it.

The RT was in Jefferson City, MO and I'm in Grand Rapids, MI. At first I was going to drive down there with a trailer and haul it back. But the thought of loading it had me more worried than the idea of riding 690 miles by myself. So I bought a plane ticket and flew to Columbia, MO yesterday. Rzrfrk, the seller, picked me up at the airport and a friend of mine who lives in the St. Louis area rode over and met us at the airport. We picked up the bike and went to his bank. After the paperwork was done my friend and I hit the Lewis and Clark Trail headed for Edwardsville, IL. It was a nice ride through MO Wine Country. It did rain really, really hard and it was about 90 degrees but it was fun.

I love the RT, it is as comfortable as I hoped it would be. The windshield is great, the storage capacity is every woman's dream! It does handle very differently from the RS but I got used to it on the twisty Lewis & Clark Trail. Today I tried out the cruise control which is great. I'm not crazy about the stereo, or maybe I just haven't figured it out yet.

The forecast didn't look too promising today but I got lucky and only hit about 10 miles of rain. Again, it was really, really hot. Chicago/Indiana traffic was awful, 5 miles of creeping along at 10 mph breathing in exhaust and did I mention that it was really, really hot? Got home safe and sound, just a little tired.

Congrats

Congrats on your new ride Ann...I have this feeling that my wife is gonna start hinting that she wants her own now (Laughing>...Will enjoy riding and meeting up with you guys for the Wisconsin bike rally.....Larry

:congrats: and glad to hear you made it home safely.

Littlebadwolf, if you are already thinking your wife may want one of her own then it is too late. It only took a month after getting mine before we ended up buying my wife's. :D Best of luck to you with that situation.

:congrats: Glad to hear you got her home safe. I know the weather in the mid-west can be brutal (I lived in Indianapolis for 19 years).

Enjoy your new ride!

Happy to hear you are safely home in Michigan with your marvelous new toy. We just got in from Vintage Motorcycle Days late last night, and have some more events on the agenda, but when things get settled down here Nancy and I would love to ride somewhere to meet up. Or maybe we could just arrange another Michigan (& Indiana) ryder get-together soon...or another impromptu barbeque and gathering at our place.

Enjoy the Ryde!

We should arrange a day and time and meet up at Town & Country Sport Center in Cement City, MI. They have a great restaurant next door, the Artesian Wells. In addition, a lot of great places to ryde!
Somebody suggested that on the Michigan forum. We could even set up a few gathering points in each direction, so ryders from one area could travel together if they wished. Checking my calendar later today, after we finish unloading from our trip (and preparing for the next one), to see what the third Saturday in August (as was suggested) looks like.
