• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Must get rid of head shake

I have the BRP touring windshield 25" when I'm riding anything over 65 my head shakes like a bobble head! Drives me crazy. As soon as it warms up (if it warms up it's been a long winter here) I put the stock BRP shield back on, I then take all the wind in my chest but no head shake.

Anybody else have this or am I just wierd?

Common problem, especially for a person with a long torso. I don't know if the BRP shield will adapt to the Madstad bracket, but an adjustable windshield can help alleviate the bobbling. There is a lot more to wind buffeting than the windshield height. The shape, angle, and distance from the rider play into it, too.

You'll also find that all helmets are NOT created equal. One thing I've noticed is that whenever I rode without a helmet I had NO BUFFETING. My Scorpion EXO 1000 was pretty bad . My new NEXX XR1R helmet cuts through the wind like a knife! An adjustable shield will let you fine tune things also.

:agree:I have found with my Scorpion EXO 1000 that if I look down a little it is quieter. When I asked the helmet salesman at my dealership about this he said that this helmet is more for sport bykes and not touring bykes. I did not have the noise problem before I put on my risers.

very true about the helmets. That factors into the equation more than many realize. My Icon SSR Alliance is not very good from an aero standpoint either. Too bad because it fits really well. What's interesting is that I have an EXO-1000 and for me it works great. I'm an enigma, though, so it probably shouldn't count. :roflblack:

Different shields, risers, positions, rider height, etc. would easily make us have different experiences with the same helmet.

I've got the BRP ultra touring on my RS. I get some buffeting when going fast (which is most of the time), but my main concern is my partner says she gets it blown around a lot. I'd prefer not investing in a new windshield, helmets, etc..

I've read about the Madstad brackets which can be purchased separately.
Has anyone tried them with the ultra touring windshield?

Our RS has the 23" brp touring windshield. We bought the Madstad brackets and drilled the BRP shield. Very easy to do, no chipping, nice clean holes. Adjustments are easy.

i have not used one but CalSci makes large windshields too, but all of theirs have a vent (hole in middle lower section) if you really want to be adventurous you can cut out a hole too. this will prevent some of the vacuum based drag and still let you feel some wind.

if you try this, please start with a small hole and slowly bore out after repeated test runs. any turbulence you cut out for yourself may drastically change what your passenger feels (and vice versa).

obviously, this method may save you lots of money on a new windshield...but it may lead you to HAVING to buy a new one.....

good luck.

Madstad is the way to go...Mark is really a nice guy and will answer any and all of your questions...a shield is one of my next mods...I'll be going with the highest Madstad!

Had the same problem, bought a Madstad 22". Takes some time to get adjustment but it is worth it!
