• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Mule vs Lion

A couple from Montana were out riding on the range. He was riding a mule with his rifle and she had her camera. Their dogs always followed them, but on this occasion, a Mountain Lion decided that he wanted to stalk the dogs (you'll see the dogs in the background watching). Very, very bad decision.

The hunter got off the mule with his rifle and decided to shoot in the air to scare away the lion, but before he could get off a shot the lion charged in and decided he wanted a piece of those dogs. With that, the mule took off and decided HE wanted a piece of that lion. That's when all hell broke loose for the lion.
As the lion approached the dogs, the mule snatched him up by the tail and started whirling him around. Banging its head on the ground on every pass. Then he dropped it,
stomped on it and held it to the ground by the throat. The mule then got down on his knees and bit the thing all over a couple of dozen times to make sure it was dead, then whipped it into the air again, walked back over to the couple (that were stunned in silence) and stood there ready to continue his ride as if nothing had just happened.

Fortunately, even though the hunter didn't get off a shot, his wife got off these four pictures.

Well, my brother, Stoney Rodent, forwarded the story to his friend in Arizona who trains mules. The friend says there's no way it would be true. They'll be talking on the phone soon and I'll get more information then.

Oh well, a good story, none the less.

Saw those pic's a while back. Mules are protective, Use to run them with calves, goats & sheep to keep coyotes at bay.

i read once this was a hoax. the hunters killed the lion and then let the mule play with the dead body while they took pictures. who knows....

Do you think that the Cat's attention being drawn to the dogs and people might have been Just enough of a distration? :dontknow:
If you had one by the tail; what could it do to you?

The pic is at least 5 years old (maybe more) and at the time it first came out it was alleged that the cat was already dead when they introduced the mule to the carcass. Having raised a few mules, I do know that some mules will chase down dogs and do their best to kill them. So I can only assume that they might do the same with big cats...but not out in the open. Their instinct would be to corner them and protect their hind quarters in the process.
