• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

mufflers/power...

I have the leo vince on my 08. Kinda loud for my tastes. since I have the original too, I wonder, what do the mufflers doo for the power anyways?

some say snake oil, some say dragon slayer... What say you?

I understand the concept, really the engine is just a big pump. More in more out, etc.

what I am wondering is, just how much help the muffler will add. Trying to decide if its worth the effort to swap back to teh old. If its a huge change back to the old, I wont do it. If it subtle, I might give it a whirl.

IMO seat of the pants guestimates don't cut it. If it can't be measured it's worthless. Since a dyno is probably out of the question, some timed acceleration runs could be a reasonable measuring procedure.

As I see it..!!

there is little effort in changing out the muffler on the GS/RS/RSS. Do it and then see the effect it has on your ryde...you will notice. There are many pipes out there so you can get some a bit quieter...

Sure, dyno results & or measurable gains are nice, but I would've thought that the 'seat of the pant's' bit was the MOST important part of any benefits!!

After all, If you make a change/do a mod but for the life of you can't feel or don't notice any difference, then no matter what the measurements say, you probably won't ever be happy with it! ;)

At best all they do is move the power band usually up. With fuel injection and computer controlled timing it's tough to make any appreciable improvements, if so pipe mfgrs would publish dyno runs. The comment about more air in and out doesn't take into consideration the fact that nothing has changed on the intake side so there can be no more air to let out. They do make more noise which is what you objected to in the first place. Save your money and spend it on gas.

I replaced my OEM exhaust on my 2014 Limited SE6 with a twin Stainless Steel exhaust and a cat by-pass. Definitely made a difference in sound but I can't honestly say it made much difference in power or gas mileage. I ride 2 up most of the time and pull a RT 622 trailer when we travel on trips requiring overnight stays. The wife was not happy with the noise since she could not hear her music through her headset in her helmet. To be honest, when we rode to the Outer Banks a few weeks ago, the noise got a little anoying even to me. I had a Harley prior to the Spyder and had put Reinhart dual exhasut on it and although it was loud, you could not hear it on the bike while riding as much as you do the one on the Spyder. So, I put the OEM exhaust back on and now I have a Spyder Attitdue exhaust I'm trying to sell for half price of new.
