• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Mud Flap

We have a "Show Chrome" mud flap on the back of our 2015 RT which does not do a very good job of keeping dirt off the back of the bike or the trailer. I'm sure it's better than nothing. Wondering if anyone has experience with something that works better?

It's probably more due to the turbulence around the rear of the bike... :dontknow:
You can reduce it a bit: you'll just never completely eliminate it under all riding conditions. :banghead:
It's not just the rear tire kicking stuff up into the breeze: the entire bike acts like a vacuum cleaner, and pulls debris (the light stuff anyway! :D) up off of the road surface as it passes over it.

I have the BRP trailer hitch mud-flap and an additional mud flap (I can't remember the name) that sits under the rear fender. I STILL get junk all over the back of the byke.

Bob is right - these bykes seem to create a large low-pressure area behind the byke pulling road grime, water and other junk all over the back.

any bike with bags is a dirt vacuum. my vtx had no bags and the rear wheel stayed clean.
the vic croos roads has bags and the rear is dusty in 20 miles. super bad rear tire dust
on the rt.

mud flap

I Got one from one of the site sponsors-spyder flap. It is not perfect, but I get less on the spyder than I do on my cage.

We have the BRP hitch with the mudflap. Not good by itself. I fabricated a mudflap from Kydex, no more rain debris on the trailer, no more water mist blown forward onto the passenger, no more stones tossed off the rear tire.

I do have photos, just not on the IPad. Low cost and no tire rub on the fasteners.

Fiberglass rear fender

I need to find a better mud flap also. The one I had did a great job of keeping the back of the bike clean, but on big bumps the rear tire would rub on the mud flap bolts. And they were not sticking out very far. Far enough I guess for the tire to rub. There is only enought sticking through for the nut to thread on. I am running a car tire, so the diameter may be larger than the Kenda. Would like to see what others have. I also noticed that the openings to the left and right of the license plate allow alot of dirt and mud to be flung into the air by the rear drive pulley and brake disc. If I was good at making fiberglass molds, I would re-design the rear fender and make one out of fiberglass. I did order a new rear fender because I am not happy with my painted one. Maybe I can use the painted one to make a mold for a new rear fender!!! It would be an ambitious project for sure.

The only fiberglass rear fender I know of is this one http://www.mblinnovations.com/store/RT-Sport-Rear-Fender-4-.htm. They state it reduces debris and reduces the wind tunnel effect.

When we first started riding, my wife complained that she was getting dirty while riding. After looking around to see what we could do, I wound up buying a mud flap for a pick up truck from Pep Boys auto supply. It is the Big Mudder Extreme, Road Sport #3102 and is 17.5 inches long and 10 inches wide. I had to cut off the very top of it where the curved wheel well shape is, but the flat sides fit right inside the rear fender, and the bottom of it is about 6 inches off the ground. Works well enough to satisfy my wife, and if it is raining hard enough to get wet, nothing will work to keep you dry.

Here is a picture, and they do make a bigger one.

I had the same problem until I tried these.

I used fender washers as well and no more rubbing!
