• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

MPG for RS Sport

Most average 30-31 mpg.

How many mpg? Set a tripmeter to zero at fill up. Always fill up to the same level--most do it to about a quarter inch below the fill ring. Divide the total miles driven by the number of gallons it takes to refill. It will take a few fill ups to develop a pattern. Example: drove 150 miles between fillup. Took 5.3 gallons to fill. 150/5.3 = 28.3 mpg.

i'm guessing she didn't need the math course :joke: but she might be one of those that can't fill it all the way sometimes and that is giving her different mpg every time she checks it. mine sometimes is 34 mpg and other times 28.5 mpg. not sure I drive it that much harder or if I do that many more hills, but it isn't constantly the same!

Varies..!!

There is a lot that affects the MPG's. Our 2012 RS sm5 averaged 33 mpg on our last trip of 1,800 miles. Others have posted the method to finding out so good luck with finding your average.

By the way we do have a K & N air filter and a Hindle exhaust pipe..

At fill up, set one of the trip meters to zero or record the odometer reading. When filling, insert the nozzle just into the fill baffle, and fill slowly, especially toward the top. Fill manually, do not use the automatic feature of the nozzle. Stop filling as soon as gas begins to spurt out the vents in the fill ring. You can top it off until it spurts a second time, but no more. If you try to top it further or fill faster you will just push gas over to the emissions canister and it will be wasted. When you fill the next time, divide the trip meter reading or odometer difference by the gallons filled. That is your gas mileage. Rezero the trip meter, and do it all over again. Best to look at an average of several fills rather than one or two. Mileage may vary greatly depending on riding style, road conditions, speed, stop & go traffic, wind, mountains, etc.

These days, I try not to assume much. I gave my answer based on the information given by by OP.

Someone here on :spyder2:lovers recommended a free website to keep track. Fuelly.com. Ive been using it and it works great but I only been getting 26mpg on my RS and 24mpg on my RT. O well,,, didnt buy it for the MPG but for the funnnnnnn...:thumbup::thumbup:

Sign up on fuelly.com and then keep a record everytime you fill up. It will give you all the statistics that you can think of.

I average 30mpg most of the time. The only time it dips into the high twenties is when I have a passenger on board while I am riding at a "spirited" pace.

Just sayin'............

Mine varies a lot. If I'm running interstate speeds at low elevation it's around 30, at higher elevation (5000+ ft) at 55 mph I will get over 40 mpg. 35 mph twisties at elevation it gets around 35.

I usually average between 27.5 and 30 mpg. I stay at 29-30 if driving 65 and under. Does down to 26.5 to 28 when I get 70-80.

When I had my 09 GS I Would rarely ever get over 30 mpg. I did do some experimenting to see what would affect it.
Fuel, regular or premium made no difference, but ethanol dropped the mileage. 10% ethanol, mileage dropped 5 to 6% compared to regular with I don't know how much ethanol.
High speed driving 60 mph and higher dropped the mileage. The higher the lower.
A big surprise to me was keeping your rpms as low as possible made the mileage suffer. I could lose 15% over how I would normally drive.
Another surprise was engine temperature. Driving in cool conditions with temp gauge showing 3 bars most of the time the mileage would drop 4 or 5%. In cold conditions showing 2 bars most of the time it would drop 20%.

I hope this helps answer your question.
