• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

moving to florida

i'm what's called a HALF-BACK....

i moved from Massachusetts to Florida in 1990.... and within a couple years, i really, REALLY, REALLY got sick of the BS in Florida; high taxes, garbage water, traffic jams, Q-tips (u'll figure that 1 out soon enuff) and in 1999, so i moved to South Carolina...

i suggest that you forgo the Florida thing, b'kuz u'll find out that Florida isn't what you thought it was, and choose the tri-state areas of northern South Carolina, western North Carolina or eastern Tennessee.... that way you won't waste your $$$ or YEARS in a God-forsaken location....
otherwise, good luck...
OH.... as for towing... speak with U-HAUL, they have everything u will ever need.....

it couldnt cost to much to rent a trailer one way...and the peace of mind knowing where the spyder is overcomes any price issue...i have found no reason to let my spyder out of my sight for that long....you know you could get a one way flight and then drive your bike to florida!!!!:doorag::doorag::doorag:

i lived there for 9 years.... and you are correct that there is NO state income tax... i'll give you that.... but my real estate tax makes up for that twice over...

I've heard Florida real estate tax is crazy, and home insurance is just as bad...when you can get it.

Maybe it depends where in Florida? :dontknow:

Where in Florida did you live, Miami? I live on the Space Coast and my real estate taxes aren't that bad at all. And traffic here is FAR better than a lot of places I can think of (and have lived).

That is lawyer - speak for ...if we find out you towed something 1001 lbs we will " VOID " your warranty.......Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnd I have a " 4 cyl " Toyt. Tacoma 2 wd pick-up that states in the manual it is rated for ...........................a max of 3000 lbs tow weight..:yikes:......Mike

I have to put my 2 cents in.

A Tacoma is something that you would expect to tow a trailer ..... So the Tacoma's frame is designed to tow a trailer. People are pushing small 4 cylinder vehicles to tow trailers - but it could be that the frame is not designed to haul a trailer, and the transmission could have limits too. Sure it says 1000 lb - can you tow 1500 lb, maybe, as most things that are published are UNDER the actual safety factor because its human nature to overload things an ignore capacities.

I've seen a Corvette tow a boat - sure it has the horsepower, but the frame is not designed for it and the transmission is not properly geared for it. So it will do the job, but how long will it continue to tow and then perform as a Corvette?

Just cause others have done it, doesn't mean that you will be OK towing a trailer with a Spyder on it for long distances. I would would drive the car down, buy a one way air ticket back home and drive the Spyder down. Probably cost as much as a transport, and YOU will have the spyder in sight at all times.

Shipping a Spyder... Try UShip.com

While I have never shipped my Spyder, I have shipped cars, household goods, and a live Dog via UShip.com. The drivers actually bid on your job and the prices are very reasonable. Most have a lot of references. Worth a try.

I am moving to Florida from New Jersey in December can anyone recommend or suggest a motorcycle shipper for the Can Am I would ride it but I'm driving my car because I'm bringing a few things with me

I'm not sure that questioning his choice to live in florida really does anybody, any good...
He's just trying to figure out how to get all of his stuff down there; why not some useful ideas for that issue? :dontknow:

Yep its downhill! Put the trike in neutral, use 2 bungy cords to keep the steering straight and give it a really good push. No problems. :ohyea:

Louisiana is downhill - that is why you look up at the ships while in New Orleans.

Every place has problems. Some are ok to put up with, some not. Pick your place and pick the problems. I like California. Others like Florida. Still others go for snow--I don't know why, but they do. If all 330 million (?) Americans crowded into one place, it wouldn't be any fun!
