• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just wondering why a thread was moved and to where, it says Normal Threads are all the others abnormal?
Please advise
Dave

If you want to know about why THIS thread got moved Dave, it was moved as it clearly wasn't about Spyders, so it didn't belong in SPYDER General Discussion, but it was about how the Forum operates & apparently seeking support/advice on that.... so Forum Support & Testing is far more appropriate for THIS thread and that's why it got moved from where you originally put it.

But if you're asking about your 'Famous Quotes' thread (linked below) then it too should be pretty clear why it got moved from Spyder General Discussion - it's gone into the same section/sub-forum that all the other NON-Spyder/Ryker threads are in - the Off Topic Board, which is where all things NOT Spyder, Ryker, or Forum Support related belong. :2thumbs:

Re-directs were left for both of these threads, so all you need to do to see where they went is to click on the redirect, then when the thread opens, look up towards the top of the page to see where it is now - there's a listing that starts with the Little House/Home symbol & then lists on down thru the sub-forum chain until it gets to the actual thread title, so for THIS thread, it shows:

Home; Forum; General Discussions; Forum Support & Testing; Moved. ;-)

If you can just decide to post threads in whatever sub-form/section you feel like, regardless of what sub-forum or section they really belong in, then how can we expect anyone else to do the right thing and help others by at least thinking about using the correct sub-forums? And if no-one bothers to use the sub-forums/sections, then we might as well dump everything in Spyder/Ryker General Discussion where it'd all get jumbled in & likely lost amongst all the other non-related stuff! :yikes:

There was a time that this Forum did operate with far fewer sub-forums/sections, but many members (like you) clamoured for more sub-forums and extra sections to help organise things and put all the similar/related threads & common subjects/discussions into the same place to make them easier to find, so the Owners/Management of the Forum obliged, and it does generally work pretty well - has done for quite some time now. But it will only continue to work if All Members make at least a token effort to do the right thing, cos the Mod/Admin Team really don't have the time or the inclination to waste on perpetually cleaning up after those few who just have no consideration for everyone else. :banghead:

So, thank you for your consideration of all the other Members here by trying to put any new threads you start into their appropriate sub-forum/sections. Even if you don't often hear it from anyone, the time you take and your efforts to do this do help make the place easy to use for others and as such, are certainly appreciated.
