• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

For the benefit of I'm sure many, including myself, what do the terms GS, RT, & RT-S mean and whats the difference? I can't locate on the web the definition yet I see them used many times. There's probably many terms a newby would like to know. Thanks

This is a great question and I'm interested in the differences between the RS and RT.

Seems to be alot of information on the RT touring model, but little (or hard to find info) on the RS sports version, specifically.

What are the differences, really between the RS and RT, Spyder riders?

thank you.

It is my understanding that:
GS as the orginial and since the RT came out they changed it to RS and still the sport.
RT = the tourning 2010

Spyder

GS/RS---Same Spyder (the RS being the 2010 model) The Spyder you see on the street.

RT/RT-S----The touring model (slightly detuned engine from the RS/GS & 200+ lbs heavier) with a new body and many accessories.

That is pretty much it.;)

GS = Girl's Spyder
RS = Real-men's Spyder
RT = Real-men's Touring Spyder
LT = Lady's Touring Spyder

:dontknow:

Cute Spanky...

How about GS = General Sport
RS = Re-run or Return of or Road Sport
RT = Road and Tour
RT-S = all of the above

That BMW site made things worse.... more initials
:gaah:

All are actually just simple marketing designations given by BRP. They have no published meaning, although I read something from BRP that indicated RS supposedly stood for "Roadster Sport" and RT stood for "Roadster Touring". In automobile circles, GS usually stands for "Grand Sport" as in the Mitsubishi Spyder GS. For us, it probably stands for "Gas Station", since the cruising range is relatively small. :joke: Truthfully, the GS and RS Spyders are the same, original sport (initially designated as sport-touring) model. The RT is the full touring model with integrated bags, more wind protection, relaxed seating, electric windshield, and all the comforts of home.

Scotty, once again, you have solved the mystery. Thanks!

Heres another one for you...

What does BRP stand for?

One friend says its what you do to tupperware...

BuRRRP...:shocked:

:roflblack: In the Seventies Mopar painted some of their muscle cars a purple color called Moby Grape. British Racing Green (BRG) was a popular color for Brit cars at the time, so we called the Mopar color British Racing Purple..."BRP". Lousy paint, BTW, came off in sheets as large as your hand.

GS= Get Some
RS= Ride Some
RT= Ride Tall

SM= Super Manly
SE= Super Easy

SE= Sloppy Edition
LT= Lousy Edition

On second thought...I think Nandy's Toy is right....

I remember that! Talk about Mopar, my first car that was of recent age was a '66 Plymouth Barracuda with a 273. Man I loved that car!

My first car was a '74 Plymouth Duster with a 318. That thing would flat out run! Still have it and hope to rebuild it some day....yeah right!

My first new car was 64 Cuda'' 273 ci. Not enough H/P [young need for speed]
Next came a 65 Old's 442 400ci. almost enough H/P.
Then President Johnson invited me to take some time off of my need for speed, and take a trip to South East Asia :yikes:
Then came a 68 Charger 440 ci. A little work and all the H/P I needed.:clap:

P/S I wish i had kept those rust bucket's.:gaah:
