• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Motorcycle splitting lanes gets a mouth full of door

The actions of the motorcyclist were not very great. But--don't anyone think that the truck driver was also out of line? :yikes:

Yesterday I was riding through downtown Redlands. I was stopped at a red light, first in line, when a squid (squirrelly kid) on a sport bike stopped next to me. The light turned green, and the squid goosed it. Did a wheelie, starting about 1/3 way through the intersection. He nearly lost it and ended up swerving into the oncoming traffic lane. Luckily for him there were no cars in that lane. The Redlands Police Department has a few new police cars. They are SUVs, not monster ones, but good sized. About a block down the street, I saw that Officer Lightener had the squid sitting on the sidewalk. As I motored by, I noticed handcuffs on the squid. I hope Officer Lightener's actions will help quiesce some of the squid's riskier activities.

Go idiot..!!

here's the thing..the go pro is in a protective case probably just for this reason. What I find interesting is the passenger was filming it all. Not bad enough he risks his life but his passengers as well..:lecturef_smilie:

:agree: truck driver should be charged with attempted murder (or something). I would not really call this "lane splitting" as it was more like stupid passing.

The truck was stopped, probably broke down. Looked like he was just getting out of his truck....unfortunately the same time the motorcyclist was going by.:dontknow:

Nope, I reckon it was deliberate.....

The truck was stopped, probably broke down.....

Nah, if you watch the vid again, there were more cars & trucks right in front of that one - until he opened his door, & I suspect altho can't quite see clearly that he was looking in the rear vision mirror when he did it!! :yikes:

Perhaps

Slowing it down frame to frame looks like cars in front of him are near stopped too. In the frame where the biker gets hit, the truck driver is in the position of heading out the door, not just swinging it open w his arm though. Who knows

I lived in L.A. for a couple years back around 2000. This was before I rode, and coming from out east I never had even so much as heard of lane splitting. The first time I had a bunch of bikers speed between my car and the others surprised the heck out of me-- I was irate, wonder how they could be so reckless, I could have killed them, where are the cops to stop them?!

Of course, I quickly learned it was the legal in California, and once I knew that, it was no big deal. If anything, once I knew that it *could* be done, I was even more mindful that I was sharing the road with motorcyclists. I'd be more than okay if this was a law in more places, if only to prevent dummies like me from being surprised by such a thing!

Like he didn't look in his rear view mirror to see if it was ok for him to even open the door let alone step out of the truck!! He's just as much of an idiot as the biker!!
