• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I just had the most recent update done- vent hose, and software upload on my 2009 SE5 with 1500 miles on it.

1- Driveability- A+ what a wonderful improvement. It now runs wonderfully smooth with no surging or jerking in the 3-4k rev range. I was fairly satisfied with it the way it was before but now that it works so much better I realize that I was adapting my driving to the motors quirks. Now I shift for power or economy and not to get around flat spots or surging.

2- Gas smell- B much improved but I still smell fumes, just not as much so I don't feel like I'm stuck following a 57 Studebaker with the choke stuck shut. OK it was never that bad, but it is better now.

3- DPS- incomplete- I never had problems before and I still don't....maybe. I thought the steering was a little odd before the upgrade but not bad and I was learning to handle the Spyder in general. Sometimes it was a little stiff, mostly it was OK and just me learning a new vehicle. I think it steers a little easier now and I did notice a very slight stiff-then-release moment that might have been an anomaly, might have been the road. We are all sensitive to this kind of thing right now. It didn't scare me and I will ride on to see what comes.

Overall I think the driveability improvement is so good that if you are holding off on the upgrade I say go immediately to the dealer and have it done.

I hope the gas mileage goes up....we'll see.

Happy Spyder owner.

Great news! Glad it went well for you.

I've had only the 1st Recall Update and got similar results. My fuel mileage went up about 2mpg. But I've got the Juice Box and I had to lean it out some from pre-update settings after the update was done.

Hope you have trouble free riding from now on!

I had the 2nd update done as well and WOW, what a difference. I haven't ridden enough to check mileage yet, but was told that mileage should improve as well. What riding I have been able to do has been fantastic. I'm a happy camper. I agree with all the above comments. Motor is all stock.

Juice :D

Vent hose?

My dealer told me today that the vent hose lengthening is only for certain VIN#'s. Has anyone else been told this?

Well I just got mine back from the latest update.

With a little over 200 miles since. here is what I noticed.

1.surging & backfiring gone so far but it is not hot outside now, we'll see next summmer.

2.it steers easier than before no difference noticed from 1st. update but there is a difference with the 2nd. update; although I never had any steering problems before.

3. I did noticed a little gas smell witch I never noticed before.

4. I got my alltime lowest gas mileage 26 & 27 mpg. I was averaging 35 to 36 mpg. before; and even got into the low 40's a few times. So we will have to see after a couple of more tank fulls to be judgemental.

5. Runs good but seems to have lost a little Torque. :spyder:

I had quite a few things done new rear fender braces--rear tire--rear wheel bearings-- BRAKE SQUEAL FIXED finially:clap::ohyea::yes:--Valves clearence ckecked and a couple of other things done. I was real happy with dealers work bike was even washed when picked up. And priced was only $295.
The Teck did say that he thought that when needed to adjust the valve clearence, it looked like it would be a real pain. And that the easiest way might be to pull the engine out to do it. WOW! :yikes: That don't sound cheap to do.

It is not necessary to pull the engine out to adjust the valve clearances. Look at the explanation in the shop manual.

:agree: same results for me.

50 miles since I topped up the gas tank- and the gauge has barely budged...I'm thinking I got a big mileage improvement.
I'll wait until I go through 2 tankfuls before I really believe, but I have high hopes now.
