Most Harleys don't wave anymore

Wave

When I am my spyder some motorcycle people wave and some don't ,you can tell if they are wavers or not. Now If I see a spyder I will give them a  wave, smile. Deanna

It does seem that Harley riders are waving more. I wear my club leather and patches and at most a half helmet. I think that induces waves when they otherwise may not be coming. When I ride with my Club I get attention all the time from hard-core Harley boys, some good some not. My club brothers get mostly ignored and they ride BWM's, Yamaha's, Triumph's, Suzuki's, Victory's and even Harley's. It is annoying when you wave and it doesn't come back as we all are in a small world of riders out there.:doorag:

Wave at one, wave at them all ...

I often ride with my husband, me on my ST Limited and he's on his Harley. We both wave at everyone, and it seems like we hit areas in which everyone waves or no one waves. Maybe some areas are more wave friendly than others? As my husband said, we all are out there on the road facing the same conditions and riding with the same risks.

I like the idea of a three finger wave, must make a conscious effort to swap up my sideways peace sign for a tri-digit wave.

Are you guys and gals really hurt because some Harley guy did not wave to you? Get over it! I rode Harley's for over fifty years and no one is snubbing you. Sometimes it's convenient sometimes its not.
The guys and gals who ride Vespa's and don't wave to me are the ones who really make me mad.
:joke:

Can't believe this thread is still generating responses over such a trivial thing. Hell, sometimes the Harley guys wave at me and I only wave back when it is safe and convenient. They do not always get a wave back either.

Break down on the road sometime and the Harley guys will be the first to stop and help. Bottom line here is, stop abusing the HOGS and do not be so damned sensitive. Wave at everyone, be friendly and try to enjoy your ride.

I be like Deer slayer only I have 70 years on two wheels. So doesn't matter. Its just nicer if all us riders stand together in a brotherhood regardless of what brand we ride.

Waving

I'm having so much FUN riding my Spyder , That I cant help but Wave, If they wave back thats OK , If they don't wave back thats OK too, I'm just ridin in the BREEZE,

Midnightbreeze, still Lovin my SPYDER,:yes::yes::doorag:
Cause I'm the Breeze !!!!!!!

It was very surprising to me yesterday that "everyone" on two wheels that I encountered in Maryland and PA, 340 mile round trip, did the two/three finger low hand wave. Many went first - I always do when practical/safe.

Four sport bike riders passing me, on four different occasions, hit the horn and gave me a thumb's up.

Main purpose of trip was to visit Leisure Sports and Turf Can-AM dealer (canamchris's dealer) - great people - very very Spyder savvy - took video of my engine noise potential issue for BRP. I listened to three F3's and a new RTs engine noise (all sounded good to me).

The body work of the RTs really quiets the engine sound - doubt if anyone would notice a "potential" issue - you have to get low and stick your head where it doesn't belong - which of course I did. :)

Lots of twisty roads with beautiful scenery in PA and northern MD. Decided to just ride and explore, which is how a 240 mile planned round trip turned into 340 miles and 10 hours of fun.

Here in the NW riders seem to be more polite. Most riders wave, including Harley riders. I figure those who won't are just in denial that their next ride will be a Spyder.

We cant let it bother us....they dont wave at Import bikes either. :doorag:

I dont understand the mentality and wont waste my time trying to figure it out either. We are all humans and out enjoying a recreational vehicle....why not a friendly wave ?

One of my closets friends ( we did a lot together ) got a Harley, had to grow the goatie, got all the leather and crap....started hangin around with Harley people and basically walked away from everyone else. Like I said....dont understand. :yikes:

I will continue to wave....maybe even more vigorously.....just to piss them off !!! :2thumbs::spyder::yes:

I waive, most others waive too. Try not to let it bother me when they don't

LMAO

:roflblack: Today at work about 4 guys get out of a vanpool and tell me that my Spyder is not a real motorcycle. I ask what they have and they all say Harley's. I told them I ride mine everyday to work rain or shine but where are their bikes. Told them mine is not just a weekend warrior and I don't mind it getting dirty. They just all get a pissed off look on their face and walked away. Hope they enjoy being inside a van with other people I am sure they do not enjoy being around while I am on my ride enjoying the drive to and from work. It really made my day to ruin a bunch of RUB's (Rich Urban Biker) day. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::spyder:

I got confronted by a few harley riders about it and I stated that one day your time will come, That shut them up fast!

Really folks, who really cares if the folks in the Harley Fantasy World wave. Not me. After 58 years of two wheels it matters not to me.
I had Harleys too and if you were on a bike I waved if I saw you. If they don't wave back no skin off my teeth. I have been where he or she is, it just ain't no thang.

Nonsense

More HD's wave, than do not, just like any other brand. Who cares? Ride your ride.

I wonder if those guys can tell the difference between a 2010 and 2012 Goldwing from 500 feet away? Up until 2010 the Goldwing was a domestic bike. :) From 2012 on it's an import! There is no 2011 model.

I see no one on the Harley forum "bashing" Spyders or their owners. In fact I see no mention of it at all. Why does everyone here continue bashing Harleys and Harley owners. They bought their Harley's because they wanted to be a part of "that" "group". You bought your Spyder because you wanted to be a part of this group. Stop whining. Buy a Harley or Triglide and I am sure you will get waved at more.

Just like Lydia used to say, You want your cake and eat it too. Attitudes like this on this forum is what separates and divides the Motorcycle Community. Pitting one group against the other will accomplish nothing. This is a fairly new group and riding machine. Be respectful and treat all two and three wheelers the same if you want to gain respect for yourself and this new group. Harley's have been around since 1903. That's 112 years. Spyders have been around since 2008. That's only seven years. We have a lot of catching up to do! This is a guess, but I would Venture to say there are more Harleys in the world than all the other bikes combined. We are definitely in the minority and certainly newcomers on this scene. I have owned and ride'n most all brands of bikes but for my money nothing beats a Ultra Classic for comfort, speed and reliability. As we all know there comes a time when health and age begins to dictate what we ride and the Spyder certainly fills the bill and allows us to ride beyond our normal riding days. Don't be bitter about it and take it out on another group. My hat is off to those younger riders who chose the Sypder by choice and not from physical dictations.

This soap box is getting so high, I might need a ladder to get down.:joke:
