morning people, anyone ever hear of ICE on your cell phone

no not frozen water IT IS FOR----- IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. my sister who worries about me almost as much as my mother did, told me about it when i was at her house healing for a couple of days. the theory is, if the police try to help you is your hurt or unconscious, they look at your phone for any contact information. what you do is create a emergency number with the person that you want called, and label it ICE. then store the number on the home screen of your phone. so as soon as someone looks at your phone they see ICE and can call your contact. i thought it was a good idea, and did it to my phone.

Good Idea....I have the FollowMee app which can locate me where ever I am. I activate it when I am out ryding seeing as I am mostly alone out in the middle of nowhere on my way to somewhere. When I'm not ryding it's off...no one needs to know where I am then...:roflblack::roflblack:

Yes, we have had it on our phones for years. Not sure how true it is that police will actually check for this.

Checking for ICE records is part of the brief for Aussie Police & Paramedics, especially in the case of life threatening injuries - but basically they are gonna be checking for ANY details like that in those circumstances regardless; an ICE record or 2 in your phone just makes their job easier & your identification & notification to your loved ones quicker & more likely!

I've got 'em, I've used them for other people in a variety of circumstances, & I'd strongly recommend them for anyone. :thumbup:

Iphone has emergency information that shows up as well. My wife has Psoriatic Arthritis and Fibrosis. This lets first responders know and administer medicine carefully.

Same here. Apple added a medical ID (like the bracelets) you can add ICE contact & other important medical ICE info (allergies, conditions, restrictions) that police,emt's can still get from the phones lock screen. Keeping phone info secure but allowing only that ICE info. Handy as now it applies to me. My last emergency i was in coma for two weeks so that would have been very helpful for them. Thankfully it all worked out & my family learned a lot on being better prepared.

Yup, been around for years. And as an EMT, I've used it before. Very handy when it comes to treating or transporting minors who have a phone with the ICE numbers in it, and no legal guardian or parent around. Put it in your phone and name it "ICE", just as it says. hyea:
