• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I now have installed the SENA SM10 into my RT and wired it into the factory sound system on my RT using the harness kindly supplied by Finless Bob.

I have tried to 'pair' the SM10 with my SENA SPH10H helmet headset but cannot get the thing to pair. When I press the button on the SENA set to pair all I get is a "pairing intercom" spoken message and the red light continues to flash on the headset. From what I read on the instructions I am supposed to hear the message "multipoint pairing" but that is not happening, so I can't get to the next step of pressing the pair button on the SM10.

I called SENA but all their techs are busy and no one has called me back today. I will send them an email but I thought maybe someone on SL may have the answer.

Also, I'm wondering about the controls on the Spyder itself. Attached is a shot showing the audio screen. When I want to move to the Spyder's headset audio, (assuming I can get the thing paired) do I need to turn off the external speakers and go to 'headset mode"? What do "Mute" and 'Mix' controls do when in headset mode?

There is nothing in the owner's manual that refers to these controls at all so I am assuming there is a separate manual that comes with the expensive Bluetooth unit ordered from BRP.

I read in my manual you don't use multi-point pairing for the SM10. You are doing it correctly. Go ahead and try it when it says "Pairing Intercom" Multi-point pairing is I think for non stereo devices like the SR10.

Also I just set my external speakers on mute when using the SM10.

Did you first attempt to pair the headset with a mobile phone? From the SPH10H instructions it appears you should do that pairing first before pairing the SM10 and the headset. The phone pairing first was the sequence for my SMH10 wherein the phone selected the headset. Once I did that the dongle immediately paired with the headset. I think the sequence is set by Sena but have absolutely no idea if I am correct.

I assume your roadster audio system is plugged into the center, "Audio In," port of your SM10. That is the port my '14 RT-S audio system to the dongle.

I turned off the external speakers on my because I saw no reason to pollute the air with my choice of sound. Just select "External Speakers" and set to "Off."

I played with the mute and Mix controls for the headset mode and it had no effect on the SM10 audio pairing with my SMH10. I too found nothing in the owner's guide about the headset mode.

JayBros is correct. You must pair each with it's respective phone first then pair them to the SM10. If you do this in reverse order you will need to clear the pairings and start over.

My wife's is paired with her cell phone, and mine with my cell phone. Then we are both paired with the the SM10. We each have independent calling features, and stored quick dial numbers when needed, but share the bike audio, ipod, and intercom.

I have to disagree you may or may not pair with your phone first. Sena headsets are only able to connect to one BT device in A2DP (Stereo). All other BT pairings after that are in Handsfree mode (Mono). So the first BT device paired has to be the one you want as your stereo music device. If that is your phone great do that one first. If it's the SM10, then it must be first.

The instructions in the user guide should work. http://www.sena.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/UsersGuide_Sena_SPH10H-FM_v5.0_en_20140918.pdf You are only allowed one Stereo music device and that would be the SM10 so it needs to be paired first.

Any mention of headsets in the Spyder controls are for the wired headsets only and don't apply to you. So ignore them.

Yes you can turn off the external speakers or set to the lowest volume setting before mute. Whatever works best for you and how you use the radio. Mute function will mute the headsets as well as the external speakers. The exception for this is the GPS if you have one will override the mute. The volume control has no effect on the headset volume except mute.

Billy,
I'm not arguing with you as I myself am very new to this Sena game. Here are the directions from the SMH-10 user's guide that are exactly the same as those for the SPH-10H:

6.3 Bluetooth Stereo Device Pairing
1. If the Bluetooth stereo device is integrated with the mobile phone
such as smartphones, you don’t need to pair the SMH10 with it
separately. When the SMH10 is paired with the mobile phone, it is
also paired as a stereo music device.
2. If you have a stand alone Bluetooth stereo device, follow the
paring procedure separately. The procedure is the same as the
procedure in “6.1 Mobile Phone Pairing”.

With this pairing as stated above I get stereo music through my Iphone and through the Spyder radio system. I confirmed the stereo issue this morning because of my rotten hearing and the performance of my SMH10 speakers with my hearing aids but that's another situation. I think Sena recommends the smart phone pairing first to get stereo from both devices but, again I'm no engineer and am may be misreading the instructions.

Sena does not explain this very well. But the key is in paragraph 2 that you quoted. In every example they give to pair a music device. They always refer you to do a mobile phone pairing (6.1). In the mobile pairing procedure it states that you can have more than one mobile phone pairing but the music one must be first. Music will play in handsfree mode but only mono.

Dave:

They do not have IM capability on that site. You have to file with an email or register to get a request number assigned and then they will get back to you. I finally got an answer but the information they gave me does not work. I still can't pair with the SM10 from my SPH10. One unit just won't recognize the other despite resetting.

I have now figured out how to pair these units. I have been pushing the wrong %%&$#@())& button on the headset.

My apologies to all. I will take down this thread if you wish.

I recall having the same problem. These instructions were posted somewhere here before, they were different than the manual. You may have this already but here it is anyway:

The SM10 connects Via A2DP, your smart phone (android or iOS) has A2DP and HFP, the SMH10 has only 1 A2DP and 2 HFP channels.
You can pair your SMH10 to the SM10 via Phone Pairing, first delete the Sena Pairing on the phone first. Then
1 Power on SMH10
2 Hold the Phone button (small button on the back) for 5 seconds until you hear phone pairing
Then Set SM10 to headset #1 pairing
1 Power on SM10
2 Hold Center button for 5 seconds until Blue Light Flashes
And wait for the headset to pair with the SM10
Then Pair Smart Phone to SMH10 via Multi Point Pairing
1 Power On SMh10
2 Hold Jog Dial button until you hear Intercom Pairing then release and with in 2 seconds press the Small Phone button on the back. you will hear her say "Multipoint Pairing"
Then on phone perform a scan or search for device and when you see SMH10 on the phone select it to begin the pairing.
Now you will have SMH10 paired with SM10 and Smartphone, however you will not be able to listen to music on the Smartphone only phone calls and all media will come from SM10, however you can still connect phone via 3.5mm to SM10 to listen to music on your phone along side another other media you wish to connect to the SM10.
