• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. If you compare the specifications on a bottle of the Mobil 1 4T Racing oil with those called for in your owner's manual you will see that it meets the manufacturer's requirements. The fact that it's 10W-40 vice 5W-40 is inconsequential unless you plan to use it north of the Arctic Circle in the dead of winter.

... For the v twin bikes, it has been mentioned here and if checked, I dont think it meets the spec for that motor.

The bottle in the picture says API SG, SH/CF Jaso MA.

Manual for the 2013 RT says "... API service SL, SJ, SH, or SG classification." So he shouldn't have a problem.

The JASO MA rating is less than ideal. If it works, then great! But be alert for possible clutch slippage. If you catch it quickly you can change out the oil with no harm done. If you slip it very long you'll need a new clutch.

Mobil 1

Been using M1 for 27K in our 1330 Triple with no issues at all. Smoother shifting and quieter. Very good oil.
Doc, this IMHO is very mis-leading ........ Do you know how many different M-1's there are ??? and I'm not re-furring to the weight classes just the Basic product !!!! ...... Mike

What year Spyder, or better still which engine?

The oil would be fine in a 1330.

For the v twin bikes, it has been mentioned here and if checked, I dont think it meets the spec for that motor.
2013 rts!

I appreciate n want to thank everyone who took the time to reply with their honest opinion n experience! I see that the jury is divided, so I think I'm going to fork up the extra bucks n go with amsoil full synthetic! Heck if I spend thousands of dollars to get this bike, why not spend a few more $ for better protection!

Thank you all! Is always good when you get educated on subjects that you are not sure of or know nothing about it! Spyderlovers is a good place to be part of! Let's keep it clean from offensive comments or arguments! Remember your honest opinion is all everyone is looking for!

I use AMSOIL 10W-40 full synthetic motorcycle oil in my 2013 STS SE5. Works fine, shifting is very smooth, no slippage!:thumbup:

Mobil Oil

IMHO, Mobil One is a great oil. BMW (Autos) installs it on every new car they build. Chevolet Corvette uses the oil for the high performance engines in their cars. I know the cry will be that they are not motorcycle engines, well that is true. I have logged almost 500,000 miles using Mobil One in my cars and motorcycles without a hint of an oil related problem. Mobil One 4T for motorcycles, I am sure was tested for many miles/years before putting on the shelves.

Amzoil is a fine product and I have no experience with the product, but if you travel as many miles as I do each year you need to find a product (that works for your machine) and that is available should you need more on the road.

Good Luck
