MN. mall attack and stabings

:D I've been trying to find out where your perspective has come from... :D
RCMP? Mall Cop? Something in-between the two? :dontknow:

You know what assumptions do don't you?
:D Of course I do! In fact: if I don't get accused of it on a daily basis: I worry that I might be doing something right! :roflblack:
So what experience do you bring to the table? :dontknow:
I know that I've got a lifetime of Firearms ownership, 25 years of being a New York State Sportsman's Education experience (Firearms and Archery), and over 20 years qualified as an NRA Firearms Instructor...

i am not posting this to say it is terrorism or to bash anyone, i am posting this just to prove a point, that more people need to carry guns. the perp was taken down by a off duty police officer, lucky he was there, and lucky he had his gun with him. if the officer wasn't there, many more people could of been hurt or killed

Hi cuznjohn,

Re: that more people need to carry guns.

I would appreciate it very much if you would not decide what I 'need' to do. I am all grown up now & can make those decisions for myself.

Jerry Baumchen

hey jerry, sorry you feel i singled you out. i know you seem to disagree with a few people on here, but i feel you have singled me out for some reason. you always have something to say about something i post, and i really feel bad about it. i will have to have extra sessions at my shrink now, and i might become shy on posting or answering posts, if you insist on picking on me. SO NOW I FEEL YOU SHOULD ADD ME TO YOUR IGNORE LIST, and stop picking on me. have a nice day

Jerry is not alone, very sarcastic response cuznjohn.

Hi cuznjohn,

Re: i singled you out

You did not 'single me out.' You made a post that told everyone what they 'need' to do.

That is simply wrong IMO. Had you said, 'I think . . . . ' I would not have made any reply.

As to your other comments, I think they are simply mis-directed.

Jerry Baumchen

PS) IMO in a decent world we can agree to disagree.

jerry...
:lecturef_smilie: That's NOT what John said...

"i am not posting this to say it is terrorism or to bash anyone, i am posting this just to prove a point, that more people need to carry guns. the perp was taken down by a off duty police officer, lucky he was there, and lucky he had his gun with him. if the officer wasn't there, many more people could of been hurt or killed "

If you don't feel capable of handling what is a life-altering choice: don't carry!
One of us will be more than happy to protect you and yours. :D

As I said (at length!), in another thread; the choice to carry must be carefully considered...nojoke

Sorry Bob, I don't want citizens or you to be the police force. I will take my chances with what is currently available.

Awwww... lighten up a little bit! :D
After all, you came in here: what did you think that you would find? :dontknow:

How about if the op had just commented on the incident and not his political opinion. No beef then.

Honestly, I hit the "whats new" saw that title and had concerns about others being killed in this crazy world. Then to read about whether or not guns being carried is for others.

I guess Bob, for me coming here is for Spyders, if I could "ignore" the off topic I would.
However there is that rare off topic post that allows others to help others, and that I find surpasses all the bickering.

On a another topic how are you doing.

Very simple solution... Don't come to the off topic section.

But, why should Lamont ditch off topic when it's so popular? Should the complaints of a few out weight the majority? There are posts on here I do not agree with. Do I go post that the off topic be ditched because I didn't like it? Nope. I Just don't respond at all.

Seriously mowin, this is Spyderlovers, and as members we have the expectation of No pornography, No religious beliefs, and No political agendas, and not speaking ill of our fellow members. And if you don't respond to something that you don't like and it's not one of those 4 topics (and maybe there are more) then thats your choice. But don't tell us we can't and we should stay away of off topics. This is about civilized dialogue, and we are not always going to agree.
But there are many other forums where they encourage people to give their opinion on all the politics etc. Just Spyderlovers isn't the place and lately I have observed many times inflammatory statements that are usually in the off topic section. I am not going to most likely ever change someone else mind on here just as much as they are not going to change mine. So whats the point

i am not posting this to say it is terrorism or to bash anyone, i am posting this just to prove a point, that more qualified people need to carry guns. the perp was taken down by a off duty police officer, lucky he was there, and lucky he had his gun with him. if the officer wasn't there, many more people could of been hurt or killed
You are unintentionally (maybe or maybe not) bashing the people that feel that more guns is not the answer!

All would be fine, and as we find out, it was terrorism.

Spyderlovers, as we get closer to election, let us not turn "off topics" into a political jab on every occurrence, very easy to do, Think before you post. Instead go to websites where your political opinions can be heard, and you can get into some real name calling and put downs with sound bites etc., and often times welcomed. But do exercise your right to VOTE

glad you saw i was being sarcastic, i tried hard to be that way

No Bob, that was said to drive home a point.

To me, the only people that should be carrying a gun are those that have specific training for this. While some would say that they go shooting all the time, it is a totally different thing shooting a paper target and shooting a person. Especially, if that person can shoot back. When the adrenaline is surging most people cannot focus properly and tunnel vision sets in. I see this all the time when I watch videos of shootings. The bullets are flying all over the place. Most will empty a magazine before they realize it. Sure, you can say that won't happen to me because I have training. Until you are put in that situation you really don't know. And, if you do kill an innocent then that will haunt you for the rest of your life. nojoke
In one study of NY Police involved shootings, they hit their suspect 18% of the time. I have shot competitively for over 30 years and can with very few exceptions say I'd never want to count on the officers I shot with to protect me. I have a good friend who is a former trainer for the air marshal service and he is the rare exception. Like Bob said if it works for in Canada good for you.

In support of this type of thread.

I hope they never decide to ban off topic forums or threads like this. As long as I am pragmatic and disregard the emotion as much as possible, I can pick up so many different pro and con viewpoints that have never crossed my mind.

Ten years ago, I laughed at the apparent "Wild West" mentality of the US, as did so many others. Through forums like this, I now have a much better understanding of what lies behind the inadequate Australian news reports that are foisted on us......and I can understand and appreciate both points of view.

If I don't like a thread for whatever reason I don't read it......easy!

Thanks Cuznjohn.

Pete
