Thanks for all the great welcomes. Like I said, this place is a great place to learn for people like me. I'e been going through difffernt threads and checking out what everybody has done to theirs, and making lists of things I want to do, and things I might want to do. Once I make it back to the states and am able to really start looking, I will let everybody know what I can find.

Hi, Dana. I appreciate you serving our country. I put 29 in the USAF and had a ball, interrupted by some unpleasantness....

My dealer gives a 15% discount on parts and labor to active and retired. We are close to San Antonio with a large military community, so it is good business. When you shop for your scoot, wear your uniform and ask during the negotiations about any military discounts....ask, the worse that can happen is they say "no". I will bet you a cold beverage of your choice, you will get a discount. Try to talk to the owner or sales manager, the day to day sales people are short timers and have little authority.

If you get a day to day guy, who probably won't be there long, ask to speak privately to the owner or sales manager...and ask up front. Stand straight, look them in the eye, and say in a kind, but firm voice "What is your military discount?" It works, I have saved thousands....Good luck and keep in touch.

Yeah, I don't think I would go that far with it. Being in the Marines, we don't wear our cammies out in town, only our dress uniforms, and don't feel it is right to wear it JUST for the purpose of trying to get a discount.

My thought is to find a place that i get a good feeling from, and buy my bike and accessories from there. But I'll ask as I purchase if they have it. Customer service rates very high for me, and if a place gives me good customer service, even with higher prices, 9 times out of 10, I'll come back.

I retract my "uniform statement". Good intention, bad idea. You are right about service. I passed my closest dealer to go to my present dealer because of their personal service, and they were a little higher in price, but like you say....

:agree:The only time i wore my uniform was to fly Standby, At 93 dollars a month [1965] that was the only way i could afford to go home on leave.
And i even got bumped off once at Chicago, Different war i guess.:shocked:

I do not think BRP has a general discount for military personnel, but it would not surprise me if many dealers offer their own military discount. Your best bet is going to be finding a dealer that you will get good service from, and then taking a chance on them offering a discount. Best of luck in your quest to get something much cooler than the mini van. :thumbup:
