• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Messy rain machine

Any ideas how to keep the back of the bike and the passengers back, from getting so messed up in the rain? We are currently pulling the trailer, but it happens with or without.

I noticed that too. I don't tow a trailer so there is a mud guard made by one of the sponsoring vendors that I think I'll try. Anybody else used this and how well does work :dontknow:

Would a longer mudflap help? :dontknow:
The aerodynamics of the bike are such that we all get quite a backdraft at speed... :gaah:
Folks have also discussed adding some sort of "Wing" on the top trunk to break this draft up...

Mudflaps are a must to keep back of bike, passenger, and trailer cleaner. Install is trickier if u have a hitch

Mud flap

I made my own from a large piece of rubber ordered from McMaster. Made a template out of cardboard first and then cut out rubber. Took a piece of 1/16 diameter rod and bent it in the shape of a "V" with loop holes at the end to fasten to the license plate frame, and vola. Done.:yes:

If you have the BRP trailer hitch, Harvey has developed a plate that will mount to the top of your trailer hitch which won't allow any water, slush or crud to fly up. He had them at SpyderFest but they are not shown on his website yet. It's attached with the industrial strength 3M adhesive. The only caveat is you have to have it perfectly aligned the first time, you only get one shot at setting it into place.

mud flap

One thing to consider and I would like to hear if anyone else has had this happen. I was told from a fellow Spyder rider last week that after installing a flap he replaced 3 belts from stones bouncing back off it and putting holes in the belt. Kind of makes sense.

I haven't had that happen with my mud flap and I've been to Spyderfest (2013) and back and to Virginia (then to Maggie VAlley for owner's event 2013) and back to Flarda. I have a 2013 RT-S with a mud flap that has been attached to the original. I've ridden about 14,000 miles with this mod.

This is not cool, we need to stay out on gravel roads. Thanks for this post.

In addition to the mud flap on the trailer hitch I have the "Don't Eat The Mud" mudflap from Spyderflaps.com. They are a sponsoring vendor on the home page. It works great. I still do get some - but not nearly as much - mess on the trailer, but all in all I am very satisfied with it. Really easy install too. You just need a drill, and (I think) a 1/4" drill bit & a couple of wrenches. They supply a template for drilling the holes. Check them out.
