Maybe good news for military retirees and SS

Yep, and the cost of Tri Care and Delta Dental is going up as is the cost of Medi Idon'tCare. I agree Chief, my retirement/Va is stretched thin to. But, i shall not get started here...

Yes I did hear about that once, I believe it was the same time I heard that they would let people stay to 40yrs on active duty. Of course now I understand that in the Navy if you want to re-enlist your record goes in front of a board for either approval or not.

its about time we get a little more for those small checks we get ....... and the "***** crew" want to rape our benefits every time he needs $$$$........

Time will tell,, Its hard for me to believe anything I read these days.. Have ya heard about the Military Retirement changing over to a 401K?? Lots of talk about that here.. Meaning that instead of drawing your retirement check after you retire you are going to have to wait till you are eligible to draw from your 401K..

Seen link below:

The military already has the so called 401K. Its called the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP). Currently it isn't mandatory along without any kind of matching. I believe that in the near future. The gov't will go away from the original retirement plan and just offer the TSP. I don't see how it would keep troops in? Thank goodness I have 4 years left till I can retire.

Surprise...Co-pays went up on prescriptions effective 1 Oct...new fiscal year of course. I'm now paying $32 for pills that used to cost about $12....Not to mention the additional $60 a month in more federal tax...won't be long that we won't get a retirement check....

I'll believe a raise when I see it deposited. Being classified at 100% disabled service-connected I still have six medications that the VA does not carry, so have to fight with Tricare (Tricare For Life) to authorize even though they are critical medications that should be provided by the VA and pay copays.

My understanding is that the switch to a 401 won't affect current retirees. The TSP is being offered and "strongly" recommended. And yes, Navy and Marine troops who want to reenlist will have their records sent before a board for review and recommendation either for or against reenlistment, and they must have completed certain requirements. In other words, if your an average performer, you're pretty much not going to be able to reenlist The Marines are not accepting any new recruits at this time. So far the USAF nor the Army have not initiated any such program. I too will believe a raise when I see it in my check. And I'll say this much, I'd do it all over again if I could.

Say Mate, do they carry the meds at a military hospital? If I get a script that the VA does not carry, I take it to the Nav Hosp and if they have it I get it there. You are retired right, so you can use the military hosp pharmacy and the mail order pharmacy also.

Just a thought

All I saw in my check was a cut!!! of about 8 bucks. HAVEN"T A CLUE WHERE THAT MONEY WENT!!!!! Tri care for life is under scrutiny and possible change if McCain has anything more to say about it.

Just heard on the evening news, SS and SS Disability to get a cola raise. But sounds like it will be a wash since Medicare is going up. Don't ya love it :cus: :cus:

Nope. The wife took the list to Millington and they do not carry them, either. (I live 350 miles from the closest Naval Facility which is Millington.)

I'll bet before long Express Scripts will be the rule just looking at the writing on the wall.

I, too am looking closely at what McCain is selling out to. Looks like a $200 enrollment fee for Tricare For Life, even though we are paying Medicare Part "B" premiums, too. If you look at a statement of how much money Tricare actually pays after Medicare is very small. I've heard more than a couple of family practitioners say if the Medicare cuts take place under *****Care that they will no longer accept Medicare or Tricare patients. :gaah:
