Hi folks. I will be getting my new F3ltd from my dealer (Bradford Marine) about mid to late February and I need some help on a power source to run my battery tender until Spring. You see, I live in an apartment and will be storing my :spyder2: in a public storage building. Only they do not have any AC outlets in the stall.
I thought about the solar powered tender, but it is not possible to cable it to the inside. Does anyone have any suggestions?
thanks in advance for your help. I have been reading this forum for about 2 months ever since I ordered my :spyder2:. I started with the "Do's and Do Not's" which, by the way, is a great collection of sound and sage advice. Looking forward to many years of fun Ryding and adventures, and I really appreciate all those folks who give of their advice and experiences to help us "new guys and gals".

Yes that will work but until you know how long it will last you will be making frequent trips to check on it.Easiest,best method is the pull the battery(simple job on an F3) and take it home with you where you can watch it easily all the time. See Bob "great minds really do think alike" (are you happy now?)

I was hoping that if my mind was working as well it yours: it meant that things had improved (for me!)

At a minimum the battery needs to disconnected for the winter. You can leave it in place. Many folks do that and it will work just fine.

It would be better to pull the battery and charge it. Store it for the winter. Slightly longer battery life.

There is no need, but causes no harm to have the battery on a tender all winter. The only reason to have a tender on it all winter is if you have not disconnected the battery from the Spyder.

One other possibility - if there is a light bulb in the stall take it out, screw in an adapter with a female receptacle in the side and a lamp base socket on the end, reinstall the light bulb and run an extension cord down to power the battery tender. Since the light is probably on a switch or pull chain, just unscrew the bulb slightly so it's not burning all the time. Just to be clear, I have never done this .
