• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Mark Forums Read

Hi folks,

Just the other day I was informed of this Mark Forums Read option.

I use that type of thing on other forums that I go to.

Here, when I do the Mark Forums Read they are no longer in bold.

Then when I go out of the site & come back they are in bold.

??????????????????

Any thoughts?

Jerry I?m guessing you are seeing that behavior because there is a new post in the forum you had marked read but the system behavior is that you haven?t read the new post so it?s now an unread forum.

I may be wrong, if so Anthony will hopefully correct my post.

P.S. it may also be a cookie issue but I?m swimming in deep water with that suggestion.

Anthony if you see this my apostrophe’s are also getting changed to a question mark on the iPad. Currently on version 12.1

Hi Bob,

Re: That's my understanding as well: somebody else has posted something
new...

That is not the case. As an example, in the Spyder General Discussions there is a thread titled Weekend Ryde for Bob Denman.

Earlier, after I clicked on the Mark Forums Read, it was no longer in bold. Now, it is in bold again. The last post in that thread is dated today at 9:38 AM. Nothing has happened in that thread since I did the Mark Forums Read thingy.

Next!

?????????????????????

PS) I also got a lot of ? in an earlier post. I had to do an Edit to correct them.

It's any sort of decent answer for you; but I've noticed that some things aren't quite working as smoothly as they had in the past...

Hi Bob Denman,

Re: It's any sort of decent answer for you,

I can live with the Mark Forums Read not functioning as I think it should.

Re: I've noticed that some things aren't quite working as smoothly as they had in the past...

IMO Anthony is trying his best to fix things as they are mentioned & I commend him for that.

However, IMO an upgrade should never make things more difficult. Different maybe, but not more difficult.

Keep in mind, AnthonyG really had no choice but to upgrade the SW that drives this forum because and underlying software version is going EOL next month. Had he not taken this action, Spyderlovers could have been at risk of also going EOL and bringing it back to life would have been MUCH more difficult than this transition to a newer version of software has been. As a retired Software Engineer, I commend AnthonyG for his efforts and add a thank you to those that have already been voiced here.

All the best….Ann

Agreed Ann, had to be done. As a semi retired technical project manager I also recommend a sticky explaining the whys, hows, and when’s so the community understands the need and can get on board easily.
