• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Many Bulgaries at Spyderfest!

JOKE

It doesn't work that way... :banghead:
If you shoot a punk that is breaking into your car/bike/whatever: you'll be the one in handcuffs. nojoke

"Deadly physical force" can only be used if you fear loss of life or bodily harm for yourself or others.

Bob,

You know exactly what was being said.

I hope your words were intended for the unknowing.

well i learned something new about staying at a place with a car or a bike. i laughed at one of my friends that told me that he tries to get a room on the first floor when he travels, because at night he tries to bring his bike in his room. i guess you just never stay at that place again

:D Of course... but it never hurts to remind folks that while a firearm can be a very useful friend: it can also be the friend that gets you into loads of trouble.
Remember what college was like? :roflblack:

(Or were you one of "those friends"?)

doesn't the hotel have security cameras......?????
my 1st and only visit to this event was back in 2014, and there was a number of reported problems then... you'd think that the hotels would have put in place some kind of remedy for this type of situation... dang, you can hire a security guard for the night at about $20 and hour....

ONLY area covered by cameras is the lobby. They are located in the canopy. Nothing specifically located to cover the driveways or rooms. "We have 7 acres of property" was the reply by the GM. "You'd Think...."; but NO. After the incident, they hired a walking security guard.

If anything of value was left in the bikes, then the ones at fault are the ones that left those valuables in the bikes!

I seriously hope that you are kidding. By this philosophy, the girl in the short skirt is at fault for getting raped. Shame on her, she deserved it.

Cameras only in the canopy to cover the lobby. ""You'd think..."; but NO. After Wednesday's brake-ins, they hired a walking security person. Because of this incident, plus a similar incident on Tuesday night @The Lamplighter, and the weather forecast many people are packing up and going home.

Any hotel I've stayed at has signs in the parking area that state they are not responsible for theft or damage. I'm not sure how you compare the break-ins to a rape.

Hardly.

I got my first degree from "U of R" The University of Reality. Nam

When I did attend I was far removed from being a green behind the ears kid.

Hotel parking is always "At your own risk". nojoke
Do the best that you can, and hope for the best.
Or... you can always just stay at home, with the bike locked in the garage!

I like your post. Then, I had to laugh when I read #47. Actually, I didn't laugh.

That is an ubserd comparison. And no I am not kidding. If I leave my wallet or any "valuable" object anywhere out of my sight I have a chance to have someone else grab it an run.

After looking at Bob's link, Springfield MO is not a good place to visit. Very high crime! Must be some of the bad Ferguson MO people spilled over into Springfield. Why do people go to these events in a city anyway? Country rides are much nicer. There are many hotels that are not in cities. These would be much better for events.

The trick to all of this, is that you need lots of hotel rooms, places to eat, and venues for the events.
This doesn't happen out in the middle of a lonely cow pasture. nojoke
If a Dealership wants to sponsor an event: good for them, and us! The fiscal incentives, should guarantee that every measure will be taken to ensure success.
This may have just been the wake-up call, that will make the future events better!

Unfortunately these things can happen at big rallies. I have been to a couple of motorcycle and car rallies and they have been very safe probably due to all the security they had. I am sure Pitbull will look at some different options for next year

Sounds like this event is a way for Pitbull to make extra money if you ask me. A real event should not be dealer sponsored. It should be sponsored by a motorcycle club or organization that will be putting the money to good use, like charity or motorcycle safety promotion. Not lining the pockets of the dealers. There I said it! You can disagree all you want, but those are my opinions and my freedom of speech. Peace out!

The best Spyder event that I attended was the Durango Colorado Owners Event. Totally Dealer sponsored event. Very few vendors attended and they were positioned a few blocks away. Very well organized. All BRP accessories available to purchase, many events, many well trained BRP certified staff on hand to answer questions, many Demo rides available and many mountain group rides scheduled. I really wish BRP would do more of these. Events scheduled in City's are ok, but City selection should be carefully considered for many reasons, including safety.

That was a fun event, great riding.

Joel let me ask you something ---- Have you ever attended a spyderfest event? Have you ever been to Springfield and Pitbull Powersports? I am thinking that the answer to both of these questions is no... Having said that you mentioned its your believe that --- "A real event should not be dealer sponsored. It should be sponsored by a motorcycle club or organization that will be putting the money to good use, like charity or motorcycle safety promotion".. What you fail to relies that actually there is a organization called MOGANG made up of probably the hardest working people you have ever seen organizing the event. Oh and let me say this -- The owners of Pitbull Powersports along with the MOGANG members do there share of donations that's for sure,, If you have Facebook check it out... Without getting into the weeds about the whole statement that you wrote "Sounds like this event is a way for Pitbull to make extra money if you ask me". No one there at the dealership is twisting riders arms to buy anything ---- There is NO pressure --- The fact of the matter is this -- They have everything in stock that people have either asked for and want right off the shelf --- by far they have the best Techs a dealership can have, and trust me when I say if the owner could close for them 5 days he would however there are riders who come from afar just to have the Technicians work on there bikes, Heck BRP techs are there if need be, it don't get any better then that. Finally you mentioned -- "Why do people go to these events in a city anyway? Country rides are much nicer. There are many hotels that are not in cities. These would be much better for events". --- Spyderfest is way past that, look up Cuba Mo where it started from, it is just like you mentioned --- Country -- Cuba could no longer handle the amount of people that was attending spyderfest so it had to get shifted. You can organize bike events in the Country with a small amount of riders but and I agree with you these are better however spyderfest is way to big to have it in a little town, or in the Country. I know you live a long distance from Springfield but I ask that possible one year you attend a spyderfest, maybe I'm wrong here and you have already...

"XP" (If I can call you by your first name... :D)

Thanks for mentioning the MoGang! :2thumbs:
It wouldn't be possible for this event to occur; if they weren't there doing all of the "heavy lifting"!:bowdown::bowdown::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap: :firstplace::firstplace::firstplace::firstplace::firstplace::firstplace:
