• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I think it is misleading to call the SE5 an automatic transmission. It is a 5 speed manual transmission with electronic shifting. It has all of the control of a manual transmission for upshifting and downshifting including engine braking which is what I like about it.

Again the best part of this discussion is that we do have a choice! Thank you BRP.

It also has an automatic clutch.:f_spider:

It's semi-automatic but being there is no manual clutch control, it more closely resembles an auto...no argument there...

As far as the choice goes, I agree...BRP did a fine job as most anyone can find a Spyder that he/she will like!

:agree: In reality, it is correctly called "electronic shift", like some FJR models. It has the same transmission as the SM5, but a different shift mechanism and an automatic clutch for idling. It comes down to whether you want to shift mechanically, with your foot and clutch hand, or electronically, with your finger and a button. Personal choices...personal joys. There is no right and wrong, better and worse, or good and bad. I second the "Thank you BRP."
