• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Making my gloves conductive

I have my phone set up on my handle bars and I use bluetooth through my Garmin Zumo. However, when wearing my gloves I cannot use any other fucntions until now. I did some research and found conductive thread and have sewn a small circle on the index finger of my glove. When I touch the screen the static from my finger passes through the glove and I can use the phone as if I had no gloves on. I know you can buy gloves that are conductive but this way I can make modify my favorite gloves. :-)

I should get a pair and wear them all the time. I have trouble getting the stove, microwave and my cell phone to work with bare fingers. :roflblack:

www.Sparkfun.com 1 - $8.95 - DEV-10118 - Conductive Thread (Thin) - 50' I wanted to make my gloves work, not buy new gloves. My heated gloves and my water proof ones I use in the winter, the summer I use mostly fingerless so no need.

I had to go to my office to get the info, sorry for the delay.

Regards,

Randy

Wow, I thought I was the only person that has that problem. My doctor says that is probably because I have very dry hands and my palms do not sweat.

I just take a pair of scissors and snip the index finger of the glove off at the first knuckle... I use a SENA headset so I rarely need to touch the phone anyway.

You can also take some thermal electric grease, the kind used when installing a heat sink to a CPU in a pc, and just rub a small dab of it into the tip of the glove finger.

edit: PS: this is not my original idea and wanted to give credit from where I learned this, but took me a while to remember from where :-)
Here's a link to the video:
Fast forward to about 1:00 to get to the glove tip:

I have never had a problem with touch screens when wearing leather gloves. The deerskin ones work better than my fingers.
