Maintenance Schedule Oil Changes

I went to make an appointment for oil change on my RT-S. I remember when I got the last one at 3,000 miles, dealer said see you when you hit 12,500. Looked at the manual and misread seeing next maintenance was due at 9,300 miles. Called the dealer was making an appointment and he indicated it was 9,300 miles for the next one so around 12.5K. With 11,000 miles I am waiting for the required schedule.

Do you guys change oil more often. I know dealer used semi-synthetic for last changes. Had a MINI Cooper and oil changes with synthetic were also prolonged beyond what use to be a long interval.

Thoughts ??

For a 1330: it's 9,300 miles, or one year.
Of course, you can change it more often, and you'd be hurting nothing by doing so.
How much is "Peace of Mind" worth to you? ;)

Full Synthetic

Oil change required at 9300 on the 1330 after the initial 3000. I run full synthetic, but change mine every 6000 miles. Cost a bit more to do so, but I like the insurance.

On the 1330 engine, there is conflicting information on post about the mileage between oil changes. It is my understanding that the first service is 3,000 miles and from there on it is 9,300 miles intervals. So the second service would be 12,300 miles....3rd 21,600 miles...etc. etc.

And of course you can change it more often if you want.

This is correct!

As I see it...

and from many reports here and other places your modern oils start to break down starting around 4.000 miles. This does not mean that the oil needs to be changed then and you can continue to the recommended miles but it does mean it will be loosing it's effectiveness from that point on. Maybe by the 9,300 it is reaching it's minimum but do you really want to wait that long...remember this is not only the engine but the transmission and clutch assemblies using the same oil....:dontknow: I do the 4000/4500 miles....

I know all of you are RT's or F3's 1330 I have the RS-s 998 and run Royal Purple Max Cycle and change every 5000 miles.:yes: jtpollock

3,000 first one, 12,300 (or one year) second one then every 9,300 (or one year) after that.

Oil Change Schedule

Hi, I agree with the 9300 miles between oil changes, per the manual, but I prefer to change my oil every 6000 miles or every 12 months whichever comes first. I paid a lot of money for the spyder and I want to ride it a long time. You must decide when to change the oil what others do is good for them. Happy riding. Just my 2 cents.

:agree: and that is the schedule that I followed. I run it out to 9,300 between oil changes as suggested by the manual. If it was not good for the :spyder2: they would not have suggested that interval.

No problem with those who change earlier. It can't hurt. Oh, and if you don't make the 9,300 interval, it needs to be changed at least once a year.
