its feral weather here atm so my attentions have turned to my new ride
ive polished it so much that im in fear of rubbing it away
my thoughts went to the terrible loose mirrors on the bike
nothing else for it but to remove the complete mirror
the inner frame comes off like the RT with 2 posts at the bottom, and a sliding post at the top
it has the same 2wire set up also for gripping the post
on inspection, the wires were not too bad....if opened up would only require bending back, but there was no easy fix for me
so i got out the O ring box and found a size which would fit onto the pins
i fitted one to each post(the top post was a little smalled diameter) but i stayed with the same size Orings for the 3 posts
i then refitted the mirror frame and result was magical(i had to use that word)
then i copied Shaun Smoakes idea and fitted an Oring to the 2 plastic posts(one top and one bottom).....these Orings were smaller
put it all back together (i used a dab of grease on the 3 nasty wedges which hold the shell on...made them go on so easy)
these mirrors are now Cadilllac...they move slightly but the movement feels like the whole mirror is rubber mounted..a bit like engine mounts
it turned out so well that i decided to do the other side too, which wasnt quite so bad
i may do a video if this weather keeps up
before fitting rubbers
rubbers fitted BS 010
Shawn Smoakes fix BS 008
if anyone wants more detail then happy to provide
Parts required: 3off BS 010 Orings for 3 pins (each mirror so 6 in total)
2off BS 008 Orings for top and botton plastic pegs (each mirror so 4 in total)
so 10 Orings all up...................prob cost $2.00
