• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Madstad Windshield question

I just got and installed a 20" madstad windshield with robobrackets. Here is my question, Now when I get to aobut 60 mph I feel like the top of my head is bouncing a small amount, it is very irritating. Do I need to lean the window more towards me are make it more straight up. I believe I have it raised as high toward the sky as it will go. I am about 5'11" tall if this helps are do I need a larger windshield because of my height.

Thanks for any help,

Bill

I got the same thing with a 25", with the bracket "modified" so the bottom of the shield is about 4-5" above stock, I havent played with it much and I think its the nature of the beast. It still blocks more than the sport shield :D.

I agree that it blocks more than the sport shield it just feels a little wierd to me. I guess I will just have to get use to it.

Start with it as close to 90 degrees as you can, the slowly adjust back, until you begin to feel the buffeting - return to prior setting, and you're there. You may actually have to lower it a bit too (not much tho)

You should have received a paper "gauge" with your Madstad windshield instructions showing the optimum recommended windshield angle. However with the Madstad there are so many positions possible you just have to experiment to find the right angle for you. Most people find that mounting the windshield up and away from the cowl creates an air flow that works best:

Also please understand that any windshield alone may not deflect enough air for higher speeds (over 55 mph). If you look carefully at the design of the RT, as much attention was paid to deflecting the air from the sides of the cowl as was from the front. BRP sells a side deflector kit for the RS which is remarkably effective. It took both the Madstad windshield and the side deflector kit to completely eliminate the head bobble problem with my RS at speeds over 55 mph.

If having problems with air flow, adjustment is necessary. Mark at Madstad is the one to contact for proper adjustment.. He is most helpfull.

when I had the RS-08, I used the madstad 25" shield and I had no head bobbin. I am 6'.2" + and I sat up straight with the 4" risers.

I also have 4" risers and am 5'11'' thats one reason I was thinking I may need a larger windsield. Thanks for the info I will give him a call.

No matter how high or large a windshield you buy you'll still have to deal with the airflow coming from the sides of the narrow RS cowl. Again, please look at the design of the RT and take a close look at the side air deflectors.

up right
