• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Madstad Foot Rest Install

Keep in mind when reading this narrative that all Spyders are different This account was what I experienced installing the Madstad Foot rests.

Received the kit via UPS in about a week after I ordered. The Kit was complete and instructions where straightforward and easy to follow.

When initiall fitting the Support Brackets, I found the screw holes needed to be enlarged to about 3/8”. Once this was done all the holes lined up a little better.

Installing the footrest requires installing a longer screw in the Top Right Hand position into a nut that is part of the frame. This nut is a “Cap Nut “ I.e. the screw provided is to long and bottoms out in the nut pefore everything tightens up. I had to shorten the screwabout 1/4 of an inch.

Once that was done the assembly went fairly
smooth.

Keep in mind that the footrest must come off to change the oil. This will surely be a PITA.

It may be the determing factor as to wether I keep them or not.

The finish is a 10 . Comfort is a 10 and I like they way they look.

Would I buy them again? I will let you know after the next oil change.

Thanks for share'n, but how bout post'n a pic so we all can see how good they look

:nopic: Thanks :nopic:

Why does the footrest need to come off to change the oil? I don't see that on their website.

If you look at their website and download their installation instructions you will see in step 4 a number of things that are sandwiched together between the frame and the footrest held together by Two (2) 6 MM screws that need to be removed during an oil change.

Removing these screws enables you to remove the panels that must be removed during an oil change. The forward splash guard, bottom black panel and mid panel.

There may be a way around this, I will experiment with my next oil change. Ideas or comments anyone?

I have the Madstad's footrest, all you have to do is remove the bottom splash guard and leave it off. You can then do your oil change by only removing the middle side panel (the one you take off to check your oil). The only time you would have to remove it would be to drain the radiator. To remove your bottom side panel you just need to remove the screw closest to the raised section of the footrest.
I have to say the the fit and function of the footrest is excellent. You really have alot of positions to place your foot and since it fits nearly you whole foot it is comfortable with no pressure points, but I do agree with you that the support bracket holes are not very neat and you have to play with them to get everything lined up.

Maybe your Rt is different. I have the SE auto Trans. If I recall correctly, I have to remove all the panels including the lower black panel to get at the filters. Anyway, I will fine tune the procedure next oil change. :yikes:
