• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The wife and I are in Rapid City after traveling from East Tennessee and having a great time for my 60th birthday vacation. So far the mileage is 1668 and the RT-S is doing great. We have taken our time and stopped in Omaha at the Zoo and also at Mitchell South Dakota to check out the corn palace. Today we went from Mitchell and rode the badlands loop and went into Wall S.D. to Wall Drug. Been a busy day but a good one. The weather is in the upper 70's and sunny. Left Wall and came into Rapid City and will spend a few days seeing the sites around Mt. Rushmore.
I am not good at the posting on forums but would like everyone to know the Spyder is a great ride for a trip like this. I feel as though i could ride it non stop. My wife loves it as well.
I will update our progress in the coming days.

It sounds like your into the good stuff. Don't know your plans, but a ride to Devils Tower is worth it--specially if you are a Close Encounters of the Third Kind fan--the feeling as you see the tower growing in view as you approach it is kind of awesome.

Sounds like a great trip. I just rode 475 miles today on my RTS and it was perfect. No rain and cool temps couldn't ask for better riding weather. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Good to hear your trip is going well. You not only have an awesome vehicle to tour the sights with, but you chose a beautiful area to drive your spyder in! --Paula

Trip update in south Dakota

Today we went to Mount Rushmore and it is awesome, this has been a dream of ours. We also went to the Crazy horse memorial by way of the senic route through Hill City. the weather is great with temps in the lower 80's and sunshine. We also took a areial tour of both mountains in helicopter that was a great way to get the birds eye view (we've never been in a chopter before). It has been a full day and more enjoyment on the Spyder.

The Black Hills are one of my favorite places to ride my Spyder. Awesome countryside. I'd like to see the BRP owners event take place there in the near future.
Sounds like you would have passed thru Sioux City, on your way from Omaha to Mitchell, SD. If you happen to head back thru here on your way home, send me a pm and we'll see if we can meet up.
Take care and enjoy the rest of your trip. How about some pics ???

Enjoy Your Ride

Stan,

I just got back last month from riding the Black Hills and loved it. We took the long way round (5347 miles) from Knoxville, Niagara Falls, Thunder Bay ON, Winnipeg MA, to Deadwood. There were six of us and the 3 Harley guys, one was a woman had to do Sturgis. It sounds like you have hit the main attractions if I can recommend don’t pass up Custer State Park and if you did Rushmore during the day you really need to go back at night for the illumination. Part of the show they invite all our current and former vets to participate in lowing old glory, very moving. Also if you have your passports and have time the Trans Canadian hwy is a beautiful ride especially around lakes Superior and Huron.

I’m new to Knoxville just moved here from the D.C. area and I’m looking seriously at the RT-S / Limited. I currently ride a BMW LT but between bad knees and getting older 60 it’s time to look in a different direction. I’m also looking for a ride that my wife can enjoy with me; she has had double knee replacement and is not comfortable on the back of the Beemer. If you purchased or have your spider serviced in the Knoxville area please give me your dealer feedback.

Enjoy your ride and stay safe,

Ed

We rode to Devils Tower today and it was a great ride.

Today we rode to Devils tower from Rapid City and the weather is unreal, again temps in the low 80's with blue skys. I am going to try and get some pix posted, i am not that good on the computer but maybe Lammot can help if i need it. We have covered 2180 miles so far starting on Sep.2nd (my wifes birthday) and we will double that before getting home around Sep. 17th. (my birthday is the 29th, hence my 60 birthday once in a lifetime ride). We are doing well, the Spyder is the most comfortable bike I have ever ridden. My wife doesn't ride as much as I do but she is doing great on the back of the Spyder. I think we are going to go to the Mammoth dig in Hot Springs tomorrow. thanks for all of the replys, will update tomorrow and try to get some pics on the board.

Trip update from StanProff: road trip day 12

We left Rapid City South Dakota after 6 great days in the Mount Rushmore Black Hills and Badlands area. Rode as many of the senic loops as we could and enjoyed Custer park ,The Devils Tower,as well as Wind Cave National park. Rode from Rapid city south to Castle Rock Colo. just north of Canon City Colo. About 430 miles or so. This morning, the 13th, we went to Canon City to see the Royal Gorge park and Bridge. Spent about 3 hours there and was amazed at how it was built way back in 1929, it spans the gorge and is said to be the highest suspension bridge in the world. Now we are headed to Dodge City Kansas and have made it to La Junta Colo. which is about 200 miles from Dodge City. We will go there tomorrow and from that point we'll keep going west to Hutchinson Kansas to the underground salt mines, gotta see that. From there we will drop down into Oklahoma to Tulsa. To date we have hit Ky. Ind. Mo. Neb. S.Dak. Wyo. and Colo. (we started out in East Tenn. near Greeneville). I think we will be back home by Saturday the 17th. Lamonster sent me the link to learn how to download pictures and I get that done as soon as I get time when we get home.
