• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Lowered the tail

Big Arm

Well the other day I got boared, so I was looking at trying to lower the rear end of the Spyder.

I made a couple of links out of some 1/8" flat stock, and mounted them, so as to lower the rear shock. By lowering the rear shock 1 3/4", it lowered the tail 3 3/4" and raised the nose 1 3/8". I would guess the rear splash guard misses the tire approx 1 1/2", and with all of my 150 lbs, no problem of it rubbing the tire. (I did hit one hard bump, and it barley touched the tire.)

I took a 70 mile ride through the hills, and it handled just fine. One thing that really suprised me was before lowering the rear end, I was looking over my madstad windshield approx. 3/4". Now I am looking through the windshield approx 2" down from the top.

This is just a temporary bracket, but with a little more thought, I'd like to be able to change from this setting, back to the original height, without a complete disassembly. There is no way we could ride two up at the lower setting, but with just me, I love the lower setting.

IMHO, I think the Spyder GS/RS, should have been designed with a lower height of the tail. It just looks so much better.

Your thoughts ???

Don't forget to readjust the headlights. With the rear lowered and the front end raised you will probably get a lot of complaints from other drivers thinking you have your bright lights on.

Looks pretty good, Larry. But Butch said that's what ours looks like with both of us on ours! You should post photos of a before and after. -- Paula

hey bigarm

i think it looks cool as hell. this is how they should look out of the factory. i've posted on this before and it was shot down due to belt tension issues. did you re-tension your belt or anything along those lines? i would like to see some pics of the brackets you made.great work. i'm in.

I'm not a fan of that look, but to each his own. If you like it, that's all that matters. When you make up some permanent links, you might want to look at some way to limit the rear shock travel. With 5.71 inches of travel and only 1 1/2 " of clearance, sooner or later you're gonna have trouble. I doubt the Spyder will behave too well with a cut down tire.

Watch your clearances... If something gets sucked up into the tire it can get expensive prety quick! :yikes:
But I DO like the look!

Now you can put your feet on the ground at stop signs so you wont have to balance and wont fall over. :roflblack:

chain drive

that chain drive flamed bike is the most bad a$$ spyder E V E R . no offense, just my humble opinion. if i had money to burn, mine would look something like it.:thumbup::thumbup:
