• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Lower engine temperature

Nancy's too. Wonder if it is an artifact of the updates?

:dontknow: I had the update done a few weeks ago. I still get the gas odor after it warms up. I'm also getting a vibration starting about 50. Never had that before. I can't remember curbing it or anything like that. So what's up with that. I'm going to take it back in and have it checked again before going on the route 66 trip. If it's running 4-5 bars now at 60-70 degrees, wonder what's going to happen when I hit 80-90 degrees.

Possible solution

I'm not sure butt...it seemed like our Spyder ran warmer when my exhaust down pipe gaskets were worn badly and leaking. O2 mixture was off? :dontknow:

Very cool and useful modification by the sounds of things.
2000miles is a pretty good test, also.

Do you have any other pictures of the mod to share? I would like to get more info on how it directs air through the rad instead around it.

Very cool, mod guys ;). I'm thinking about getting one, but not sure I really need it around here in Newfoundland. Although, summer we will be hitting 25-30C.

Would like more info if you can provide.
Thanks for sharing.

Not to speak for REPOPS, but judging from the curve of the cut on the foam, it looks as if it creates a seal against the body panel so that the air doesn't wash between the right radiator wall and the inside panel.

Nice idea!

(Reserve another one, for me to use in this hot New England climate!)

Nice!

Clever idea. I will have to do this - considering the temps that I encounter out here in New Mexico.

I did do something similar - I used some of the tubular insulated pipe wrap and tucked it into the gap around the air-dam, just behind the radiator fan. This helps keep the hot air from the fan and radiator from hitting my right foot.

It just tucks into the gap around the air-dam and so far ( over 5,000 miles ) just stays there and is not noticeable at all.

Combined with Repop's mod, which looks like it increases the radiator's efficiency, it should greatly reduce the convection oven effect on the rider's foot.

Good job, Tom!

And your NM temps are pretty equivalent to our New England ones, so I think I'll try this!

Great idea! I would definitely like 2 kits, one for each of our Spyders.

Please post the details on how to order them. :2thumbs:

simple idea is always the best

:congrats:
will run to buy the material and do this mod before my long ride to the homecoming Spydercelebretion in Austria.

I should have asked REPOPS if he had enough sets to install them on Debbie and my Spyders when we were in Cuba. I liked the idea when he first told me about it last summer when we caravanned out to LA. Put me down for two sets also.
