There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Low fuel indicator light

Just got off the phone with customer support and asked the following question when the low fuel indicator light comes on, on he instrument cluster how much fuel is left in the tank the answer I got was about 1.3 gallons. now if your fuel mileage varies as much as mine does you should have somewhere between 25 and 30 miles left depending on just when the light came on and also if like me I'm not always watching for the low fuel light is kinda useless unless you see at the exact time that light comes on you have no idea how much farther you can go. So I have ordered a Reda 1 gallon fuel can to carry with me. You would think that as sophisticated a machine as the Spyder is they would have done a little better job on fuel maintaiance. Sorry for the long rant

There have been a few threads addressing this subject. Most people say that the light goes on about 130 miles into a ride. I am usually finding it will take about 2 or slightly less gallons at that time. I have pushed mine to 170+ --but its scarry riding with no bars on the gas gauge or the needle below the empty zone. Never ran out--but put 5.8 gal in one time.

Reda can

Yep..got me one of those before I headed out to Spyderfest...only problem I never put gas in it...go figure huh!!!
One thing I do when the low gas lite comes on is to up the prayers :roflblack::roflblack:.and so far I have not run out of gas...been close a few times..and then that mirage/gas station in the middle of nowhere would appear..do I ?the super inflated price..NOT..
.used to do the same thing when sewing a project and running out of that special thread and no more available...sew faster and pray!!!!
I must like the "rush" I get from living on the gas edge!!!!!:dontknow:

I'm happy to have a fuel gauge at all. My wife has wait till she stalls and then flick the petcock to reserve before she knows when to fill up.

Not much fun running out of gas. Last time I was on the Blue Ridge Parkway with my HD Ultra Classic I came really close to running out. Didn't want to worry about that with the Spyder so I got 2 Reda cans. They fit perfect together in the left saddlebag. That gives me at least a 60 mile additional range to find a gas station. :2thumbs:

Nobody ever runs out of fuel right in front of a station that's open...
I've never actually even SEEN the low fuel light; I'm too chicken to wait for it to come on...
Those Reda 1 gallon containers; How well do they fit into the RT saddlebags?? Do they rattle around much, or is it a snug fit??

I always set my trip meter(A) to zero whenever I fill up. When I get to about 100 miles I start thinking about a gas station. That way I can "shop" for a cheaper price although now I'm not sure that the cheaper gas prices exist.
:gaah::gaah:

If you only have one REDA can then it will bounce all over in the RT saddlebag, however since they are absolutely no fumes given off I pack my rain gear and a couple other items in that bag and it hold everything nice and tight.. Other approach is two cans, then the fit is solid and they move only slightly

Bob, my light has never come on either....my gauge was on the bottom of the red and no light. I ran just under 150 and and put in 4.98. I may get a Reda and see just how far I can go...then I will know.

However, I do set my odometer to 0 with each fill but my bladder usually tells me it is time to stop around 110 or so....

Is the Reda a "no leak" or something special....it is expensive compared to Wal-Mart 1 gallon can. Just wondering.

:spyder2:

The problem with ones Walmart sells is the nozzle does not go back into the can, so it sticks up and takes up space,
Plus a good hit might? snap it off .

My light comes on just as the needle reaches the red band. I went 156 miles on 4.8 gal. Thats 32.5 MPG not bad riding two up on a spyder with only 600 miles on it. Should get a little better when the motor gets broke in. :2thumbs:
