There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. LOVE MY KENDA's

Wear bars are wear bars

A lot of owners here do not use the true wear bars on there Kenda,s. If they did they would be getting a lot more miles out of them. Only the bars directly up from the triangles on the sidewall should be used for wear bars and not other tread bars in the center of the tire.

Ride Now Sports ( 40 plus dealers) sells the new compound Kendas for $180 with FREE install. I for one am quite happy with the tire and the price.

Jack

Hi Jack, no direspect but I had a big scare while riding in a light rain at only 40 mph!! My RTS hydro planed at the rear and pitched to the right. Until my wear bars i/e very little tread in the center third of the tire, my Altramax would not have done this when the tire was newer. Wear bars are wear bars and reflect a thinner tire area that will channel water more poorly, hydro plane more easily, and most important are more vunderable to road hazard punctures. Not a good thing on any vehicle because as all of us have noticed, there is a lot more dangerous debris on the road these days.

TIRE MATCHING

WOW :yikes: someone has a black widow up their a** about kenda. For me i will probably see 15k-20k on my fronts which means
they will be over 5 years old when i replace them & i will do so because of age not just tread depth. for my rears i expect 12k
or better which will be maybe another 18 months on my 2013 crappy o.e. kenda's.
I still don't know if i want to put car tires on the front of my :spyder2: and i do want all 3 tires to match since i do care about
handling & safety.
For those who have had a bad experience with Kenda then you should switch, for me for now i am staying with kenda. As for
Kumho i have been selling their line since 1991 and think they are very good, i would not use the federal or falken on my
:ani29: nor would i use the altimax as that is definately not designed for bike. For ride comfort i have no vibration issues, my
highway cruising speed is 66 -74, when possible 84mph & on sunday mornings on the way to obi i will cruise around 90-95
on ocean pkwy. with no vibes & no problems & no state troopers.

Now for Copperman, i do caliper painting for cars for many years, we don't use cans or brushes we use automotive eurathane
paints & have the heat lamps for drying. we clean the calipers, prep them for paint & then mask off the fender & such before
we shoot. On the spyder i had my guy mask off the red plate on the caliper so it is still red with spyder. I also had my guy
shoot some tape weights in yellow for balancing. I, my guys & my friends like the look while i am sure when my wife see's it
she won't care.
The tires on the Spyder do NOT HAVE to match ....front & rear ...... only side to side ...... the " nanny " will correct any slight deviance( front to rear ) ( and it will be VERY, VERY SLIGHT )........Mike

the reason i want tires to match tread is for handling not the nanny, i don't want the rear to react different on the road then the
front in rain or high speed or a bump. it is the same as i want for a car but more so on a bike/trike.

Well your pretty much going to be using Kenda's then.......I have a Michelin on the rear and Toyo's on the front and have no handling issues at all .......except that the grip is so good the Nanny often kicks in when I'm in the " TWISTIES "....... the " G" forces I'm sending Her is just to much for the old girl :roflblack: ..................Mike

Why is it?

My 4k pound jeep Grand Cherokee can get 60k miles to a set of tires and my 1k pound Spyder can't even get half that much? :dontknow:

i'm selling my zuma 125 & buying a 2016 indian scout next spring, i believe the scout comes with kenda. not saying i
love them just saying right now on the :spyder2: i have no problem with them.

Mike is correct. There is no reason to match brands for the front and rear tires on a Spyder. Even with all OEM tires, the front and rear will react quite differently to road conditions because the size & width of the tires are so different. Equally relevant is the fact that the front tires are passive steering tires and the single back tire does all the driving. I would have absolutely no concern about running an automobile tire on the rear and Kenda's on the front. Kenda's on the front are fine, but for both tread life and safety, I will never again run a Kenda on the rear, now that I have tried a much better alternative. :sour:

I agree that my original factory installed Kenda's on the front are holding up. Lots of tread left at 12,000 miles. But in about 18 months I'll need to replace them due to age, even if there is still tread left. I'll probably replace them with something else, just because there are better choices out there. And also because I'm curious to see if superior front tires will handle better.

Different motorcycle tires flex at different rates, and tire manufacturers spend a lot of time and money developing their front/rear tires to work in tandem. Mixing brands is not recommended.

Yes I believe that would be true on a motorcycle with two motorcycle wheels. Not so much on a Spyder with three automotive style wheels.

Just wondering on those who want 30k or 40k on their tires, how many miles are you doing a year? with me i only do
3000-3,500 & i would replace my tires because of age way before i got to 30k.

Yep, they do........... But your talking about " MOTORCYCLE TIRES " ....... The Spyder's aren't .....if you don't believe me try putting any REAL motorcycle tire on a Spyder RIM ...... not going to happen ....BRP & Kenda can claim their product is anything they want to claim it is ...... It doesn't mean it's TRUE ..........sorry, Mike

I love the Kenda's on my wife's RTL.

Ostrich-man-head-in-sand.gif

Until they turned out to be defective and at only 3,000 miles BRP wouldn't stand behind them even though they knew they had a defective batch.

I put real tires on the front and the improvement in performance was amazing, plus no more of the Spyder trying to constantly run off onto the shoulder of the road.

Real tires.
