• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Loud noise after switching Se5 off

I put the Spyder into Neutral and park, then turned the key off.The engine stopped but after about 30 seconds there was a loud noise much like when you put the bike into reverseI think it came from the screen area.It only lasted a second.I switched the bike on and off a few times and it did exactly the same thing a few times. It ism possible it's always done it but I don't think so as it caught my attention today.Has anybody any idea what this noise could be.

If your Spyder is on level ground.....push on it and see if it will move back and forth.

I think I solved the problem.I just got it out rode down the road to my friend who has exactly the same Spyder.I demonstrated it to him.His retort was that it didn't do that on his.We therefore switched his on then off.It did exactly the same thing. When we switch the bike off the name Spyder stays on the screen for 30 seconds. As soon as the name goes out it does it.Exactly the same on both bikes.

I have '10 RTS. When the headlights go out the shutters on the lights close, making a slamming sound.

OK, let's try this from another angle. Was it a clunk, hum, whistle, squeal, click, or some other variation? If we know what it sounds like, we might recognize it. I am guessing it was a clunk (like dropping into reverse). In that case it is probably the headlight shutters, as others said. You will also hear a whine for 40 minutes, as the ECM holds the throttle plates closed. You may also hear the fan running for a while.

It was a clunk and am sure it's what you say. I just hadn't been conscious of it nbefore.

You might have to try several more to find the correct noise... But I wouldn't suggest checking while at work unless it's your office! Unless the boss has a sense of humor that is... marvelous! :roflblack:

You might not have had it before. If you shut the Spyder off with the high beams on, the shutter doesn't move. If you shut it off with the low beams on, it snaps back to high.......or is it the other way around.

I think you just nailed it.I have been riding around since I got the RT a month ago on low beams.A couple of days ago I changed it to high beams.
You are my new hero.I am taking the picture of Babe Ruth down and you are going up in his place. Thanks

Spyder turned off with HIGH Beams on...

Will cause the LOW Beam shutter to drop when the power is turned off. As a test, place your lights on LOW Beam, and turn off your Spyder... No "slamming" sound... I had the same issue when I started ryding mine...
