• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

lots of posts about average age of a spyder rider, but no one has posted and asked "just how much younger do you feel when you're out riding your spyder?":dontknow: the misses and I are both 62 years old , and when we're riding we both feel about 40! now that's 22 years younger than we actually are. we might not look it, but it sure makes us feel good!:roflblack::roflblack:

Agree..!!

I avoid reflections and therefore am as young as those around me. This mode of trasportation does that to you. But fear not the youth factor is creeping in on the trike world. So enjoy it while you can...:roflblack:

I'm always surprised when I ryde up to a place and talk with someone who noticed my Spyder. I can see on their face they see me as older than I feel. I can just read them: "She's about my grandmother's age;" or "Wow, and older lady traveling alone by motorcycle."

But then, who cares what they think???:ohyea:

Well, age has its benefits too. I hope to make it to one of the gatherings, so I can get more of the forum member's wisdom. Both on and off the trike. :D
 
i really hate to say this, but i really feel older than my 62 years that i am after a long ride. i just don't want to stop riding and my friends get mad at me for having a bike and not riding as much as they do but i have to do what i feel is the best for me. the pain i get in my lower back and legs is unbelievable after about 90 miles straight riding, this is the main reason i don't go to events and long rides with friends. i just ordered the elkas for my bike and i am going to be going up to accord ny, i hope, to have them installed and also have the laser alignment done and i am dreading the ride. map quest say's it is a 2 hr ride for me so i figure 2 hrs there and 2 hrs back is going to lay me up for a couple of days. oh well that is my sad life and i will just keep going like i do now when i hurt.

STARTER

JUST TURNED 81, AND THAT BUTTON SHEDS ABOUT 30 YEARS IMMEDIATELY. Been riding bikes for over 30 years, and it never fails. My FOUR YEAR Spyder experience is at least as good as my 2 wheel experiences of the past. Kinda' like The fountain of Youth, HUH?

Cuz, I sympathize with you. I've found that a back rest is essential for me and I recently added the tri-axis handlebar which helps a great deal, too. Some days are better than others and I'm fortunate that the two guys I ride with the most understand my situation and will stop every hour, hour-and-a-half to allow me to stretch. For extended trips I trailer the spyder. I used to get teased about that until the first severe storm at our destination. They sure didn't mind staying safe and dry when we went to dinner in my car! Just keep doing what you have to do and continue to make the best of it.

Since I've got 8 years on you, I've got to admit I do have a lot of back pain. I have found that it is a lot worse if I ride on long, straight roads. It's not nearly so bad when the roads are full of turns and curves. When it's really starting to hurt, I've found that if I can find a few esses to negotiate, it eases up dramatically. The side to side movement really helps. I do a lot of long trips, but try to stay on back roads that have some movement.

We hear you. I am also beginning to get to that 100 mile brick wall. Did a rest at 50 miles yesterday--and that did help. I need to go back to doing that regular, because I want to make some longer rydes this season also.
 
Like most others have posted, I feel about 25 years younger when I ryde. Now if I could only translate that to everything else? :roflblack:

did that this morning before lunch. nojokewent out for a breakfast run and it turned into a long one! I feel about the same.:roflblack: but I love it!! rode with my 27 year old son in law and he had a blast following the old man on his sportster.
