Lost my best friend

Had to put our 14 year Old English Sheepdog down a year ago this week. He was the fifth in a string of OES over 35 years. Each one was replaced with a new one, but after five, we can't do it anymore. We have an OES Grand-dog and that will have to do.

Hey Greg,
Sorry for your loss. The queenslands are quite the characters and my favorite breed.

My Queensland just disappeared over a year ago.

She was 13 years old and we think she just wandered off into the mountains to be alone in the end or big cat (mountain lion) got her.

About 3 months went by and I just started looking at queenslands on the internet her memory. Lo and behold I came across a breeder in Anza that had a beautiful little queensland available.

A long story short, we picked her up and the rest is history. She did not replace the memories but she does help fill the void in own quircky and energetic ways.

I wish you well.

Know very well the pain of losing a good dog. I'm sorry that you lost your special companion. Some day the joy of wonderful memories will outweigh the pain you feel now as you grieve. It takes a while, but I can now think of my dogs long gone and not cry. My heart goes out to you at this time of sadness and loss.

My advice for what it's worth is to wait a bit on a new dog. It's hard to make an attachment to a new dog when you are still missing the one you had for so many years. Take time to fully grieve. That might be a few weeks. Might be a few months. There will be a time for another dog when you are ready.

Sorry for your loss. I had my amazing dog Annie killed in front of me by a hit and run driver. I was absolutely devastated, and I've never been able to get close to another dog since then. I hope that the years you had with Smokie continue to live in your heart, and that the pain of his loss will heal. Godspeed!

Hang in there, the hurt will subside, but memories never disappear. And I really don't think that's a bad thing. Compassion is what makes us human. I had to put down my 14 y/o greyhound in April and still get kinda choked up whenever I walk by the gravesite in the back yard; or hear of someone else who is going through the loss. I'll get another grey... or two, but not yet.

I understand completely about the feelings you are going through. I have used aerialdal as a screen name for a long time which was the name of my beloved Dalmatian who's name was Aerial. I lost her earlier this year after 14 years & I debated about changing my name but I decided to keep it. It hurts either way..no doubt about it. Time does help ease the pain but it is indeed tough in the interim.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'll never forget my first dog. It took time, but rather than being sad when thinking about Petey (we didn't name him, he came with the name, really), I smile. Thinking about his antics still makes me laugh. I miss him, but I'm thankful for the time that I got to spend with him. I was still a child when we got him and I feel like we grew into adulthood together.

I have 2 wonderful dogs now and love them dearly too.

Sorry for your loss. Dogs have been in my life for as long as I can remember...Ginger....Pepper...Summer....Gizmo.... Each one special
in their own way and each one will always bring back wonderful
memories...Even though they are with us for a short time I wouldn't
trade any of that time for anything and I'm sure most dog lovers
would agree.

I am not a big fan of dogs but feel sorry for your pain

I am not a big fan of dogs but feel sorry for your loss of a loved one.

I fell your pain with empathy. This is not the place for me to tell the full story of Jade - our 11 year old German Shepherd solid black female who passed on Sunday, April 1 (NOT a joke) two years ago. Fine on Friday, sick on Saturday, and gone on Sunday from hermangio sarcoma - blood cancer

Google "rainbow bridge" when you have the time.

Pete

PS
Got two rescue GSDs now - solid black male and a gorgeous long hair female. Non mating pair. Love them immensely. But Jade will always own my heart.

Hey Greg,

First, I want to thank you for checking in with me last month when you knew Bear, my 15 and 1/2 year-old, all black German Shepherd was near the end. I couldn't even post a message to this board for support because I was too wrecked to type, but you knew what was going on and stayed in
touch--thanks.

I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your buddy. Hopefully Bear was up there to greet him and they are both running around causing mischief and having fun.

If you want to grab a beer or go for a ride, just let me know. I know this is a really hard time for you.

Peace, Marc

Hey Greg,
So sorry you had to say goodbye to your friend. I know I will be devastated when I have to say goodbye to Casey. I know you've seen her photo and she is a mutt but may have some type of healer in her as well. They are so loyal and loving. Take care and mourn as you need. You know we are all thinking of you.
