Lost Helmet Face Shield

So I was driving down the highway about 67mph.... i put my left turn signal on to merge into the passing lane.... I check my mirror.... then I look hard left to finally make sure no one is there.... and WHAM! My face shield rips off and goes flying backwards just missing the car behind me. I have the $300+ Can Am GSX-2 Full Face Helmet. Its in perfect condition, never been dropped, scratched etc. I have less than a 1000 miles on my bike.

I was shocked that this happen, I'm just glad it did not hit anyone. At highway speeds its hard to do anything when stuff like that happens.
I went to the nearest powersport dealer and they let me buy a shield off a display helmet. (they do not sell spyders).

Anyone ever have this happen?

If you removed the shield at some point its possible when it was reinstalled that it was not snapped in fully. I've had mine come loose on me when one side wasn't snapped down fully never had it fly off completely though just kind of hang on one side.

Those shields can be a little tricky to properly install. The BRP helmets are made by Scorpion. It must not have been installed properly. Once you learn how the mechanism works - you can make sure it's properly installed.

I ride with mine in the up position quite a bit and never had a problem with it coming off.

Glad no one was hurt.
