Loss of Use ?

Has anyone ever been reimbursed for loss of use of their spyder or motorcycle because of an accident ?
It has been almost 2 months without spyder while being repaired.

I have no problem with dealer since I knew there was a lot to replace and they are still finding broken pieces.
I left a message with the agent of the person that hit me that I still did not have the spyder back and was inquiring as to what they are willing to do for loss of use.​

I'd say it depends on the type of policy you have with your insurer. I checked my policy and see nothing in it about loss of use. I think I will call the agent on Monday and ask the question.

In 2004 I was rear-ended in my pick-up, and it took 8 months to get the repairs done (long story), and the at fault drivers insurance gave me extra to cover the extended time I was with out my truck. Of course this might have been due to the fact that all I wanted was my truck repaired (I was not hurt), and knew it was not the insurance companies fault for the delay. All I did was ask nicely figuring what could it hurt?

I don't think these two things are compatible when it comes to a lawyer. You'll get one or the other, but you can't have both!

Years ago I hired an honest Lawyer. He told me it would cost $600.00 to retain him, and it did :roflblack:

Did you insure for "loss of use", or to use a rental vehicle?

If not, then there is more than likely no reimbursement for your down-time, sorry to say.

However, if the accident was not your fault... you could see if the other person's insurer would reimburse you for renting a Spyder (or car) in the meantime. Worth a try.

A lot of years ago I hit a 77 yr. old man with my car. His wife, 76 yrs. old, sued me for lack of services for $120,000. Made it to court. They ended up getting a total of $10,000 from my Ins. Co.. Anything is possible.

If it's not your fault see that the guilty party covers the cost. This has been the way when it happened to my wife...good luck..!! :dontknow:

Chu's right in that if it's not your fault; the party that caused the mess may be liable for the cost of a rental vehicle; but they're not going to compensate you for not having yours available... They'll just rent you a car.
